Seems that the children Wu's pool is pretty much empty. As today the first Grand Children wu's are being send. And we are one step closer to the end.

Completion is far more important than stats, but it is a little sad that we probably are not going to pass the 100,000,000 results milestone, which would have been the 4th research at WCG passing this hurdle, but then, if we add HCMD1 to it we've got 102,849,502. Let's bring in that last 1.5 million or so. --//-- P.S. Parents are running a mean of 5.43 hours, assuming there's little offspring in the cycle this moment. Still suggests many run less than 6 or 12 hours and have no offspring. Just a little thread necromancy here. Care to take another guess at making 100,000,000 results? With 8 days showing on the dashboard and grandparents running faster, I think we're gonna rack up numbers fast. It's gonna be close by my accounting. ![]() Distributed computing volunteer since September 27, 2000 |

Hopefully, as tomorrow is the beginning of a new week, knreed (or one of the other WCG techs), will provide another breakdown of the number of WU's still to send out - thereby giving everyone some clue as to what's still to crunch...

Parents through 2392-2396 on my machines, that only leaves 2397 of the missing batches. Then we get all the children, etc generated off of those. It's gonna be a bit before we see the end of this project (at least the last results).

While I still don't totally understand how to tell if something is a parent, child, etc, it really doesn't matter now, I suppose, as the last 1/2 day now I've gotten no more work units. But what I do know is that most of my last work units have taken from 2-8 hours each, when before this last big push they would only take 1-2 hours each with the very occasional one taking over 2 hours.
----------------------------------------=================== Ok, that's just how my luck goes anyway. No sooner than did I send this first paragraph as the message, I got 4 more work units. And I also finally found the thread that explains how the naming is done. :) ![]() i5-12600K (3.7GHz), 32GB DDR5, Win11 64bit Home [Edit 1 times, last edit by Bugg at Feb 13, 2012 3:19:11 PM] |

Now that the regular supply of WUs and so especially of parents (including those pesky out-of-sequence ones) has dried up [knreed message Feb 13, 2012 2:15:50 PM], let's look back to 26 Jan, when the following brave souls said:
@gb009761 Anyone willing to nail their colours to the mast, and state as to when they think the; @nasherb) the last parent will be sent my guesses are; b) 20th Feb 2012 b) Feb 12th @KWSN - A Shrubberyb) Feb 17 Therefore the closest prediction for b) goes to ![]() ![]() It was that last-minute prioritisation of regular parents in the queue that spoilt the good efforts of the others! |

Out of my 22 work units I have in my queue right now:
----------------------------------------11 parents (3 of these I just received) 4 children (3 of these I just received) 7 grand children (5 of these I just received) Would it be correct to assume then, that those 3 parents I just received were most likely due to someone just aborting those units before they either finished, or even were started? If so, thanks to whoever does that. That will PROBABLY get me my bronze badge for this project. Btw, I wasn't crunching at all for 2-3 years, so never got this project til last week (same with other projects, and even missed a bunch). ![]() i5-12600K (3.7GHz), 32GB DDR5, Win11 64bit Home |
