Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa / Soccer Football Thread

Tonights game could be the best game so far; both teams should go for the win.

Apparently you are not allowed to wear clothes that are in some way associated with a non-FIFA brand. The clothes do not even have to have a brand logo on them! The story and a pic of the 36 accused. I can think of a simple solution wink

Today, a good game, then the shock, and then horror:
Chile played well and got a deserved win.
Spain played quite well, but lost!
RSA lost 3-0, after a deflected goal, a penalty kick and the goalie being sent off incorrectly, which killed a good game - but Uruguay were the better team and RSA were not great on the night.

Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa / Soccer Football Thread

I love Canada, only happens here
Since our tem is not in the cup and we are a country of immigrants everyone is free to support the old country's team.
Today I was at a shopping centre and the car flags were everywhere. Flag from Mexico (one on my car), flags from Brasil, Spain, Urugay, Posrtugal, South Africa, Germany, Italy, Argentina, England and others... its greta!!

I am hoping tomorrow we have a good day: Mexico vs France

Today,
1st Match, Argentina – South Korea
2nd Game, Greece – Nigeria
3rd Game, France – Mexico

¡Buena suerte a México.

Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa / Soccer Football Thread

I am ready to go to a Mexican Restaurant to watch the game witha green crowd.
I was looking at history and we never won a game against France... we tied once. On the other hand France did not look too good... so may be. This game is a kill or be killed.
The forecast in the paper here...a 1-1 tie. I am hoping for a win.

And yes, Skigiven... there were no French flags a the shopping centre. There are not a lot of those around here, the most popular would be Italy, Portugal, Brasil and England

and JP congratulations !

Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa / Soccer Football Thread

The Greece - Nigeria game was so bad for about 20 min. Then a cross went into the net and Nigeria went 1-0 up. Nigeria looked in control and Greece looked worthless. However Nigeria had a player sent off and the game totally changed. Greece suddenly looked up for it, and after some effort got a deflected goal. In the second half Greece made it 2-1 after the Nigeria goal keeper spilled a shot. Greece went on to win the game comfortably!

Although France should be favourite tonight, their manager is stranger than strange and Mexico will be no push over. Who knows what will happen?
