Re: Help Conquer Cancer Badge discussion

Just got to Sapphire 2 Yr Badge. My first Sapphire.

Welcome to the blue badges club Nevada Bob hugs .
The first one is allways the most difficult and hard to get. But now that you know what it means to have one, you have become an addict, and the only thing you know is that you MUST get another one, and then another one, and then............ biggrin

Happy crunching smile

Hypernova, well done on the 4th loop applause
I think the present HCC task size should help your tasks completed rank nicely, given your system specs smile
I was wondering why I was no longer moving forward on this task front; its because most people caught onto the short WU size and jumped aboard while the going was good. They will leave the ship soon enough, when the task size is moderated, as promised. I had my eyes on HFCC, it being a Cancer Research project et al.

Re: Help Conquer Cancer Badge discussion

hmmm, not aware of any task size moderations promises, it being hard given each run is a discrete analysis. Who knows do the techs develop a method to concatenate several of these units together... uplinger held the idea well at arms length. For now, the shorter run times have a nice attraction for the real part time / lower powered volunteers.

Re: Help Conquer Cancer Badge discussion

Was from Uplinger, basically I think the idea is to have all tasks roughly the same length; probably to make the tasks completed actually mean something (you know, a 36min task is not the same as a 36h task; a bit of equality)!

Re: Help Conquer Cancer Badge discussion

WCG likes/liked(?) to have the projects run an average of 7 hours [it's been 6 and 8 hours as target too], but it's not a must and given the seeming continued back-end stability at peeks of over 600,000 results daily, there appears the be a lesser urgency [HCMD2 runs average of 4.6 hours and DDDT-2 will be even shorter once the C-Types become available in large quantities]. I'm sure lots of planning and testing went into this prior to the v 6.08 launch.
