Re: smilesmile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 38 smilesmile

tongue
They called me today and said that I was scheduled to have my temporary hemodialysis catheter removed tomorrow afternoon. They inserted it after my peritonitis was diagnosed. Apparently the culture shows that I am over my infection. That's a relief, but I wish they had scheduled the removal next week. My older sister had cataract surgery this Monday, so she is not available to drive me home. I hope they do not get sticky about letting me drive after the surgery.

Re: smilesmile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 38 smilesmile

Yea, but it can get real interesting sometimes if you use a dash of politeness and a good bit of bullheadedness. "As much as I'd like this thing out, I can't make it tomorrow unless you can provide transportation at your expense." It surprising what can turn out to be available when you ask. I never realized that many of the eye clinics here provided free door to door transportation until my folks had cataract surgery. With gas prices what they've been and what some places charge for parking, that sort of thing is not what I'd expect. (On the customer service side of this, I've found simply refusing to end the call very effective at getting routed to someone with a working brain.) Yea, I'm a bad boy! biggrin

biggrin
They called this morning (just after I had arranged for a ride with my brother-in-law) and asked if I could come in immediately that morning. So I did and they quickly gave me a coffee (I had been fasting) then a local anesthetic. Five minutes from first prep with iodine to final bandaging. They gave me another 5 minutes to recover then sent me home.

They told me that scar tissue forms around the catheter after several months which slows down the operation, but my catheter had only been in for a month. Easy to remove.

Home by 12:12 with a burger to break my fast.
