I've had several of these so have now unsubscribed from the project. I did the same thing, I am running 32 bit Windows7 and Boinc 6.4.7 and 6.10.0. It is happening on 2 different machines for me. No new installations of software no new anything but coming back to WCG as a choice in Boinc. ![]() ![]() |

Same error with me, failing after 0.01 or 0.02 hours.
I`m using Windows Vista, service pack 2, and BM 6.6.38. |

A thought sprung up... DLL's. Some have used Visual Studio 2005 during compiling. Have a look for duplicates of different timestamp, version number. The ones I see in BOINC program dir have no duplicates anywhere else to include the system32 OS directory.
----------------------------------------Are the permissions on each and every project file in the slots the same? Tried project reset to refresh the downloaded science software? Ah, and then there is .Net . Got the latest for longer. Wild I'm sure.

I'm also getting this type of error. Just like this:
<core_client_version>6.6.36</core_client_version> <![CDATA[ <message> ȷ (0x1) - exit code 1 (0x1) </message> <stderr_txt> ERROR:: Exit at: .\dock_structure.cc line:401 </stderr_txt> ]]> It is running on my notebook, with Core 2 Duo T6400 CPU, 2GB of RAM, Win 7 32bit. It doesn't appear regularly. Some time it disappear for a couple of days, some time it take place very often. Recently more then 70% of my WU is trapped by there errors. I don't use any anti-virus scans. I'm wondering if it has something to do with I updated the BOINC manage. But it also took place before I updated it. |

You may want to follow the older thread on this error http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,22661 , which is from the applications view undiagnosable.

I have received 15 errors for this project recently – and on 5 different systems (all Windows based, but everything from XP to Win7 64bit). Most of the errors were on a 64bit Vista system – probably because it runs Boinc the most and has 4 cores.
----------------------------------------Although most errors occurred in the first few seconds, one ran for over 2 hours before crashing :( Result Name: mu860_ 00004_ 0-- <core_client_version>6.6.20</core_client_version> <![CDATA[ <message> Incorrect function. (0x1) - exit code 1 (0x1) </message> <stderr_txt> ERROR:: Exit at: .\dock_structure.cc line:401 </stderr_txt> ]]> Im reporting this, because it has the same ERROR at line 401 as reported previously in this post. Perhaps if you ran a few Betas to investigate the problem, you would understand the problem a bit beta’. PS. The thread in the above post is from over a year ago - this may be a new issue, saying as Windows 7 did not exist then and neither did these work units! One thing I've noticed in past, before it somehow started to behave on my quad was that the rate of failure increased depending on the concurrent number of HPF2 jobs.
----------------------------------------On my wish list, at top, is WCG before sending work to multi project crunchers in a mixed way. For example the quad called X seconds of work and got 4 HPF2, 3 RICE and 3 HFCC assigned. Then instead of them coming into the queue as 4, 3, 3 send them down as 1 HPF2, 1 Rice, 1 HFCC, 1 HPF2 etc. I've seen many comments and know from own experience that doing this will improve system performance and lowers temperature. I never allow for instance 4 Malaria, 4 QMC or 4 Primegrid to run at same time because of latter... if ever I allow them to get a share. It's been on the BOINC wish list for longer, but doubt it will ever come there. The client only knows FIFO concepts during Round Robin operation... ![]() Sadly the skgiven report underlines the pure chance it works, since RT now suddenly has it going with 64 bit OS/Client. Maybe start from an utterly BOINC decontaminated system, registry inclusive?

If this is what you are getting at? I would agree that a Boinc update should remove Boinc completely (clear the registry et. al.) before installing. Perhaps it could be configured to export user settings to a new folder, then uninstall Boinc, install the new client, import the users settings and delete the export folder.

Yes, but I do warn, others have tried the ultra-clean approach too.
