Re: anyone else seeing these kinds of errors? I'm getting tons of them.

I am seeing this also in my farm, but I can say it's only with the Windows 7 64-bit machines. I don't have any 32-bit ones though. It's not happening on Server 2008 64-bit, Windows XP, Linux or Mac OS.

At least it is a quick bailout, and I'm not losing much time, only a few seconds before it crashes.

Re: anyone else seeing these kinds of errors? I'm getting tons of them.

I'll add to the row of users with errors.

I bought two computers in late October, one desktop with i7 and Windows7 64-bit, 6GB RAM. It's running Boinc 6.2.28.
The other is a laptop, Lenovo G550, T4200 dual-core and Vista 32-bit, 3GB RAM. Also running 6.2.28.

Until recently I have only run a few projects to make my badges look a bit tidier, but have now opted to run all projects equally. It seems I have close to a 40% errorrate as of yet, all stopping at 0:02h (or similar).

Both computers were obviously clean installs. Both are using about 80% processing capacity and all available cores.

My old PC have yet to get a WU since I opted in again.

Re: anyone else seeing these kinds of errors? I'm getting tons of them.

The BOINC throttle is a known source for some projects to cause problems, but as yet not for any specific WCG project. 80% means here that the client allows the sciences to run 4 seconds and pauses 1 second. This is well observable in TaskManager. Suggest to set to 100%. On a desktop you wont notice, in fact the stopping and starting if at all, should be more noticeable.

40% failure is to exact surely meant to be exclusively for the hpf2 jobs? Yes 2 minutes and still not known what exact combo of OS/Hardware/Security software+their settings is causing this though the programmers have identified 1 work unit that they can let fail on 1 lab computer when run continuously every, once every few days, i.e. they are debugging. Both my clean W7-64 and 32 bit installations running HPF2 had a 100% success rate with 6.10.18 and still to test with the 6.10.19 alpha.

Re: anyone else seeing these kinds of errors? I'm getting tons of them.

To follow through on this, W7-64 bit with 6.10.19 client finished the first HPF2 retrieved under this release and finished normal, even seemingly with a rather runtime than what I've been used to under Vista-32.

my507_ 00020_ 9-- 1112084 Pending Validation 29-11-09 09:31:15 29-11-09 14:39:48 4.50 82.9 / 0.0

Two more started to run concurrent and both are now on 10 minutes, so think to have a stable setup under my hands.

AV is still Alwil Avast Beta 2 version 5.0.0.239 with the regular scan exclusions for BOINC. No changes to default firewall and defender. UAC also out of the box default.

edit: 6.10.19 64 bit client build of course :D

Re: anyone else seeing these kinds of errors? I'm getting tons of them.

I may have just got one of these errors - it occurred about that fast.

na863_ 00046_ 5--

using BOINC 6.10.18
64-bit vista SP2
running Norton Internet Security 2010, with the 2 BOINC directories exempted from scanning
on a laptop with BOINC limited to 60% CPU use

Most other HPF2 workunits on that machine lately seem to have succeeded.

Another quick error:

na866_ 00050_ 9--

Likely to be due to the workunit - several others have returned an error for this workunit also.

Another quick error:

nb026_ 00077_ 17--

No wingmates have reported yet for this one.

All three of these recent quick errors have been on just one of my computers - the laptop with the BOINC CPU use limited to 60%.

Otherwise, the setups of all three computers are similar except that one of those with no such errors has 32-bit Vista SP2 instead of 64-bit.

BOINC 6.10.18
Norton Internet Security 2010 antivirus

Re: anyone else seeing these kinds of errors? I'm getting tons of them.

I am seeing some errors on the n~ series of WU's but these are not as frequent as happened with the earlier m~ series - something has improved or changed as this is on the same two i7 W7 64bit set ups - but almost all the WU's going through my XP 32bit system are processing to completion without a problem.

Yes, I am also seeing all kinds of errors off the Human Proteome Folding - Phase 2 project. No erros on any other project (FightAIDS@Home, Help Conquer Cancer, Help Cure Muscular Dystrophy - Phase 2, Help Fight Childhood Cancer.), just The Human Proteome project. I've been getting them on/off for 2 or 3 weeks now.
