again please edit posts that we go to far on but please dont remove all of the good and non objectionable content that are in these debates. See but you missed the point that the material was objectionable, and while you seem to disagree, finally WCG has sided with the majority.in my opinion there is alot of usefull stuff in those threads like links that may be hard for some people to find again But you cannot be sure that any one link of the thousands of links (or embedded material) is scientifically sound, true or valid.[Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Oct 8, 2009 2:14:11 PM] |

I have suffered through reading every post of the greenies thread since the beginning because a prominent member of my team is involved and I couldn't be irresponsible as a capt to not keep up where my members are posting. MANY times I wanted to scream I hate this thread and never wanna read another post! But I refrained ;)

I have suffered through reading every post of the greenies thread since the beginning because a prominent member of my team is involved and I couldn't be irresponsible as a capt to not keep up where my members are posting. MANY times I wanted to scream I hate this thread and never wanna read another post! But I refrained ;) I'm not sure why you have to check up on your team members and that seems to be related to stalking. Bottom line - if you were so offended, you certainly didn't "have" to read those threads!

Actually I'm glad they killed them. When I come here I don't want to see political heated posts. I want to see post about boinc, computers and the projects ect... right?  You certainly don't have to see those threads. You have the choice to look at only the threads that you want to. Those of us that enjoyed those threads don't have that choice, anymore. How is that a "Good Thing?"

I applaud your decision, and WCG has been very tolerant. I'm curious why you applaud this so much. Did someone make you read those threads against your will? Granted the discussions were heated, passionate, and crossed the line at times but there were some very good points brought out. Sometimes it takes anger, passion and crossing the line to bring those points out. That is what a discussion is all about. Most of the time, people are going to have an opposing view of someone else's opinion. It's not a rosy, all perfect world where we can all have a discussion and no one is allowed to get upset. It was wrong to close those threads and I'm not sure why the administrators think they are so universally powerful enough to destroy the thoughts and feelings of so many posts. Free thinking and free speech must not be allowed here. In my opinion, around here you allowed to give them your computer time but you are not allowed to say what you feel in the very forums that they set up. I can understand why people are considering leaving WCG. My point to this is, it is not WCG's place to be tolerant of our free speech. They already get all the glory for the free computer time that we already contribute. This incident has made me weary of spending so much money on electricity supporting an organization that claims all of the credit for distributed computing, yet won't even let us speak our mind in a few threads that a few people have been offended by. I am finding the admins of WCG very intolerant. I was a network administrator for many years, and my job was to keep the servers running. It wasn't my job to be the thought-editor...
