The closing of the global warming thread has started a load of others cropping up and a brief look shows me that it's the same people with the same heated opinions posting in them. I managed to avoid looking at the greenies thread as it seemed to just be full of bile and personal insults. It looks like I'll have to avoid the whole chat room from now on ![]() It appears that those of us with "politically incorrect" views are not welcome here. I don't do PC and in fact I make it a point not to. We don't live in a utopia and people are still allowed to have their own point of view (for a little while, anyway). Most people don't want to hear the obvious and facts are certainly out of the question. I've been called a racist for saying that black people are black people. They are not "African Americans" just as I am a white person and I am not a "European American." Somehow, calling a black person "black" is now racist, but calling a white person "white" is not. Go figure... The very fact that I wrote that out will call out the zombies and I will once again be called a racist and a bigot. ** Congress has a "Black Caucus", but not a "White Caucus." White people are not allowed into the "Black Caucus." How is that not racist? I feel we should have a White Caucus as it only seems fair. I am so not PC that people depend on me saying the obvious. I will walk up to any black person and ask them if they are "African American" or "American." Just for statistics sake, most black people have admitted to me that they are American. As a term, "politically incorrect" should not even exist. To me that's just a symptom of weakness. It's the very thing that is destroying our country right now. **Edited for violation of forum policy**TKH

There does seem to be a policy change here--you know there has been a lot of success here at WCG and it may be taken for granted |

Hi sweetie! <big wave>
Scribe: ....what was that place in Austin?.....I seem to have forgotten! ![]() Yup... It just goes to show you... the more things change, the more they stay the same. I missed all the fuss, and apparently some things have been edited and/or deleted. But why cry "Censorship" when forum rules have been broken and consequences have been imposed? Why not learn how to get a point across without breaking rules? It requires a little thought and creativity, granted, but it can be done. All this silliness... again. Shame, shame... |

Because the thread should have merely been locked and edited, not removed completely. Note: I wouldn't want to be a mod again... EVER! As I didn't see it, I cannot say I agree or disagree with that decision. But my gut feeling is that whoever removed it thought it was so insulting that leaving it (even locked) continued the insults. A fact of forum life is that the good of the many outweigh the good of the few. Yes, those holding minority views have rights. That is where discretion comes into the picture, by both the poster and by the forum staff. Exactly what was said? What was implied? When was it said? Where (which thread) was it said? And the biggie: Why was it said? For every one member who complains, there are roughly fifteen who agree but don't bother complaining. That is always on the minds of the forum staff. Do not, for even one minute, think the staff take these matters lightly. The thing that one should keep in mind is that controversial does NOT EQUAL contentious. People can have sincere and heart-felt disagreements and debates without them becoming crude, rude, and socially unacceptable. |
