Hi all ... we are back from that shower..roads were not too bad. As to who is doing work over at FreeHAL, I just stick around here at WCG; there is more than enough good work to be done here from my point of view. Pretty much says what my feelings are as well, RT. Of course, we aren't trying to use resources like our graphics cards which the WCG doesn't use yet.I'm not quite sure how FreeHAL does it yet, but it's not using any CPU or GPU resources. I have 25 of these wu's running at once, and I have run every diagnostic I have against them, and it's like they are not even there. Yet, each wu completes in about an hour. Very weird... I look at it like this. WCG has a lot of work, but my systems can't work on as much as they have. I have spare resources, so I am going to use them to accomplish something else. Some pretty creative people have figured out how to use other resources, so I am going to let them do that. I love crunching for WCG, but there are other problems to solve and if WCG can't use the spare resources, I'm giving them to someone who can. FreeHAL is RAM based, not CPU based. It just needs your memories! |

My computers are pretty much used up at WCG though ... so I am happy. Thats good... everyone is ![]() |

It takes all 8 processes to keep the I7 busy..so how do you run WCG at max and still run other Boinc projects ![]() |

I recommend running it full bore if you have lots of RAM, like me. |

I suppose that there is something that I don't understand - (Not the first time ![]() FreeHAL seems to be a BOINC-only app. Boinc seems to allow only one process per processor (8 on an I7). Now if you fill those 8 slots with WCG apps, how can you start a HAL process? |

OK. *How do you start it* when BOINC is already set to 100% and won't let you set it to anything over that? |
