Re: At your home how many active devices do you have?

You might want to do a diskcheck:
Open Windows Explorer,
Right click on the drive,
Properties,
Tools,
Error-Checking
Check now, Tick both boxes
Do a restart and just let it run the scan/fix (it does take some time, several hours)

It might help!
Good luck,

Or if you prefer command line like me...
Open DOS prompt and type
chkdsk c: /f /r
if asked question hit y
reboot.....and wait for it to finish in 45 to 60 minutes or more if you have a 1T drive.
biggrin

I did that long ago. The disk is definitely bad. skull The computer was given to me because it was failing and the owner bought a new computer. I was just going to let it (Avogado is its new name) live out the rest of its days on my WCG-BOINC farm. Avogado has done a good job for research in its retirement (0:129:15:52:43 CPU time; 112,315 points; 292 WUs).

Many months ago Avogado was crashing so often that I just shut it down. When HFCC was in the final lap I fired Avogado up just to see if it would work enough and it has. I just need to take the time to scavenge one from another computer in the bone-pile or just find a good deal on a small HD. It only needs to hold an OS and BOINC since it is a dedicated cruncher. As long as I do so before the disk fails I can do a disk copy. If the disk goes bad its the end of the line for Avogado, since I don't have an installation disk and keys for it.

I really should back off from the 24x7 crunching since the weather has warmed up and the family has started running the air conditioner. My excuse that I was warming the house has run out until it gets chilly again.

Cheers coffee
