Re: DDDT2 Project Recognition Thread

I will be last to get Bronze, Silver, Gold, Ruby, Emerald and (currently) Sapphire, because I have received only 4 work units since they started Phase 2.

In reality, it doesn't matter whether your first, second or last to get a badge in anything - just so long as you're participating, as it's that which counts biggrin

If you're really serious about badges, then the reason why you've probably got so few DDDT2 WU's so far, is that this project is running intermittently (and thus, not a constant stream of WU's are available), and due to this, other projects have a higher priority - thus, there are a number of ways to increase your chances;
1. Reduce the number of higher priority projects (instead of having them all selected, say, only have 1 or 2),
2. Keep an eye out for when a new batch of DDDT2 WU's are to be released, then switch your profile to only receive work from this particular project (don't forget to switch it back when the "shower" has passed, and
3. You many have the box "if there's no work available, send work from other projects" ticked - I'd be tempted to untick this until you're happy with the DDDT2 badge level you've got to.

Re: DDDT2 Project Recognition Thread

Thank you for your reply. I am actually not preoccupied with badges, but I would like to get some work units. I have so far received 4, and I received 4 for Phase 1 as well. I have been running WCG since 10/2/07, so I would have thought I would get more Dengue work units. This machnie runs 24/7, and my other machine does too, except in hot weather when it gets flakey (no A/C), so I shut it off. It is smaller and slower anyway (two pentium IIIs and 512 Meg RAM).

So I have lowered the priority of several of my other BOINC projects, and removed 3 or 4 of the WCG list to increase the chances of getting some Dengue-2 work units. It seems a shame not to get any when I have 8 GBytes of RAM and two 3.06GHz hyperthreaded Xeon processors with little to do (these days) other than running BOINC and web browsers most of the time.
