Re: DDDT2 Project Recognition Thread

Something you're not doing right, Jean-David, and smack me in the gob, but I can't figure out what and why you have 14 and I have:

Discovering Dengue Drugs - Together - Phase 2 1,660,774 3,598 1:254:02:23:03

Next time when there is a shower, do what you do normally and then post the message log from the client start all the way where DDDT2 is not send, plus 10 lines after that. That will tell us volumes more than a dozen times of the same ugh ugh (which will eventually eat somebodies nerve.).

A-Type only go to reliable rated device. (had 14 of last run)
B-Type go to all (had 3 of last run)
C-Type go to all, and certainly to those that can process CEP2 and have that setting at 1 only, meaning bandwidth is rated sufficient, and memory/disk settings are OK.

Till then.

Re: DDDT2 Project Recognition Thread

Do you mean like this? (Arbitrary starting point) I cannot remember just when the shower was anymore. I have the log for quite a while, so if you know the dates and times of the most recent shower, I could extract just those entries.

To keep things together, my platform is a machine with two Intel 3.06 GHz hyperthreaded processors (so Red Hat Enterprise Linux thinks there are 4 processors), 8 GBytes RAM, almost 16 GBytes disk available for BOINC, and a 20 megabit download, 5 megabit upload Verizon Fios Internet link. The machine normally runs 24/7 and has been mostly idle since I stopped doing some massive database work a year or so ago.

Here that is:

I cannot remember just when the shower was anymore. I have the log for quite a while, so if you know the dates and times of the most recent shower, I could extract just those entries.
The last shower was on 29 May, announced by Seippel at 15:04 GMT/UTC, my first download was at 20:23 GMT/UTC, my last download was at 23:31 GMT/UTC. What do your logs show for that period?
Only a small fraction of download attempts during that period would result in a DDDT2 workunit, but there should have been some if your machine was trying frequently enough.

this line indicates that, if there were any WU's available for your particular platform (be it Windows, Linux or Mac * ), then it'd have got some. Unfortunately, just at that very second, there were some - but not any suitable for your computers Operating System. If you see that message again (and I'm sure you will), I'd really be tempted to manually retry until you get some (it may take a little while - just think of how many people are attempting to get some DDDT2 WU's.

* If you have a Linux or Mac machine, I think the chances of getting 1 or more WU's are higher - just purely due to the numbers having these systems being lower than the Windows platform.

My machine is running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, so presumably my chances are higher.

But only 14 tasks (7 days) for the life of the project?

If you see that message again (and I'm sure you will), I'd really be tempted to manually retry until you get some (it may take a little while - just think of how many people are attempting to get some DDDT2 WU's.

The thing is that I cannot just sit here watching the message log until I get messages like that and immediately tell BOINC to update every few seconds or every minute or every whatever. If I notice there is a flood going on from messages here (I look only every few days, or when I get an e-mail) in this thread and in the New Thread for Its Raining), I turn off all fetches for all BOINC projects (and the queue size is only 0.25 days), step the queue size to 9.25 days, and let just WCG tasks. And I have shut off all WCG tasks on this machine except Clean Energy and DDDT 2. Once and I while I get Beta Testing, but they are rare. In spite of which, I have received 27 days of Beta Testing and only 7 of DDDT2. I was beginning to think perhaps there are no tasks for Linux systems.

These are all the ones like that I have in my current log:

Re: DDDT2 Project Recognition Thread

It's just slow and steady progress with this project. You have to do alot of babysitting to get any work. Monitoring the "Its Raining..." thread is a must. I've only got 3 computers running BOINC and yet I am 100 days away from emerald. That 100 days will probably take a long time to get there, but I will keep trying.

Cheers coffee

Congrats. Been trying to get away from silver for a long time. Would be nice to get a text message or email from WCG about an hour prior to launch of projects or betas. Could then log in from my iPhone and make changes while at work. I know, wishful thinking. crying

Re: DDDT2 Project Recognition Thread

In the last rainfall, to my surprise, I made to bronze (totally unexpected). Now I'm trying to make to silver, but I don't think I'll make... the rainfall is just too small. Congrats to all those who make it to a badge this time around.
