Re: After two weeks trying...

Sheesh! I thought I was in pretty good position to snag work for any projects that started up. But was I wrong!

I don't have monster fast machines, but they are on all the time and seem to return reliable results. Yet since DDDT-2 was released I've had exactly one work unit assigned to any of my machines.

Clearly I have to revisit this whole 'get in on the ground floor' idea for new projects!

Not sure what I reliable machine is, I have and I7 975, I7 965, and I7 920 dedicated to WCG 24x7. They consistantly do 30-40 results a day every day. I do not think you can be more reliable than that! Yet I have yet to get a single DDDT-2 WU.

Re: After two weeks trying...

Again, since this project started several weeks ago there have been only a few thousand WUs distributed because it is a 3-level distribution scheme and it needs careful reviewing of results by the scientists after levels A and B before finally reaching a large flow of type C WUs.

Assume 4,000 WUs have been distributed (total returned WUs is only 2,129 while I am typing this). 4,000 is about 1 % of WCG's daily distribution, or 15 minutes of the servers time. Over several weeks! 4,000 is also much less than the number of reliable devices in WCG, fortunately.

Bottom line: it's no surprise that most reliable devices still have not been able to get a single DDDT2 WU.

The total number of type A and B WUs over the whole project will be less than a half day of WCG's distribution, and until now only type A and B WUs have been distributed.

Please review this post Discovering Dengue Drugs - Together Phase 2 Work Unit Types for details.

Re: After two weeks trying...

Thank you for pointing out the numbers.

I have 43 active devices and probably 200 cores on this project and I only was able to get 8 results (one re-send). That puts the odds at about 5%, so people shouldn't feel bad if they're having trouble getting work.

The C units will be released soon enough and we'll be off to the races.

Re: After two weeks trying...

actualy i think its close to 1200 jobs (2x) so 2400 total that have been released so far (plus a few resents) so it is much smaller than most people have thought.

i was lucky to get 2 WU's and waiting impatiantly for more. was hopeing to get at least 1 more before i went into surgery tomorrow morning but i guess i will have to wait to get out of the hospital to see if i managed to grab another one or two

Re: After two weeks trying...

I think I was very lucky to receive a single B type job, considering that only 50 * 2 were sent out as far as I know.

Nasher, all the very best with the surgery.
