Notification of completion of a project (or sub-project).

I would like to see someone, such as Sekerob, maintain a read-only thread that would have information about the completion of all projects. In doing some maintenance work, I decided to look for the completion date of projects for which I had contributed a year or more of work and I found that HFCC is scheduled to complete in June. When reviewing the forum threads for HFCC, I saw an entry for HFCC to complete in 30 days written on May 8.

I am suggesting a new forum for the Support category which would contain information about the projected completion and the date when the 30 day notification is provided.

Thanks,
Dave

Re: Notification of completion of a project (or sub-project).

In Sekerob's second graph (as can be found here ), all the completion dates are already provided.

As to when the "30 days'" notification's are provided, that's easy to spot for each project.

Edit : Here they are, just for you...

What you have provided is information for projects already completed, but that is not what I am interested in. I want to know, in a quick glance, when an active project will complete, or when the 30 day notification for any active research project is provided. The information you provided does not say anything about the completion for HFCC or other active research projects.

Re: Notification of completion of a project (or sub-project).

For the estimated completion dates of current projects, refer to the first graph. Please remember though, it's only an estimate. Sekerob, nor any of the WCG Techs can not state exactly as to when a project will complete (not even when they're estimating that there's only 30 days left). Basically, there's just so many variables to take into account - which includes, us, the crunchers biggrin

That may very well be true, but the information in a list format would be much easier to use, and I am interested in being able to see if I will be able to meet the goal I have set for the project. If I do not have the information for all of the active projects, I may miss reaching a goal since I may be concentrating on a different project which has much more time available.

dkt, here, would this 'Active Projects Estimated Progress & Remaining Duration' do (which is one more of the excellent graphs Sekerob produces - again, only an estimate though...)

Yes, this would provide the type of overview I am looking for... Now where would I, or anyone, be able to find this graph? Is there a summary of the graphs being produced by Sekerob available so we would know what is available for general use?

Re: Notification of completion of a project (or sub-project).

yes those graphs always help but the biggest thing to remember is they are just estimates on completion just as Sekerob will tell you.

on HFCC the 30 day notice poped in with it looking like there would be at least 3 more months of HFCC then we got a 30 day notice and he updated the graph.

and i defiantly agree we the crunchers are probably the biggest variable as we get faster machines and people swap from one target to another... especially when a new project shows up or a project runs into a delay. for instance since dddt2 is delayed and intermittent i am running HCMD2 towards a new badge then plan to swap to HPF2 if there are no new projects by the time my badge level increases... right now i am going for the closest badge i think i have time to upgrade. mind you if a NEW project comes live or if DDDT2 gets some rain or a flood... then i will jump on those as they appear.

alot of thanks to Sekerob and his wonderful graphs that i have looked at for months and been following.

i have also noticed that normally prior to the 30 day notice the techs at WCG normally give a notice that the project is coming close to an end before then.

again the hardest part is the fact that when one project has downtime or a new project shows up that crunchers swap to and from them greatly changing the work per day on that project

good luck and hope you get all the badges you can

Re: Notification of completion of a project (or sub-project).

For the last two posts, I think gb009761 is referring to WCGACT - Active Projects Estimated Progress & Remaining Duration - as the chart containing the information about all of the active projects. The only thing I wanted was the date when the 30 day notice is given since I have enough processing power to reach the goal I am striving for if I know when that 30 day period starts.

And nasher, I have seen the notices about the project coming to a close but I don't recall if this is before or after the 30 day period start. The point I was trying to make is you have to go into the forum for each project to find any threads about only 30 days left when it would be active. It would seem to be a very easy thing to have a list in one place about important information for all active projects.
