totto,
How did you install the BOINC agent? I would recommend you install it using the package manager that comes with ubuntu. If you did it by the command line tool, then I would recommend stopping that BOINC instance. Then open a terminal, type in 'sudo apt-get install boinc-client boinc-manager' This will install boinc and have it set up to start on boot. The Graphical User Interface (gui) is installed on Applications -> System Tools. Hope this helps. -Uplinger |

1. open terminal sudo gedit /etc/grub.conf<enter> Try sudo gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst change default=0 to default=# for windows entry (count "title" lines starting at 0) change timeout=## to timeout=3 save and quit 2. If you're only going to be running Boinc, I wouldn't worry about it. |

They changed to grub2 in the newer versions and moved some files around.

pirogue & sek,
many thanks for your help. I have installed boinc with the package manager, and to download CEP2 tasks, I have edited the client_state.xml using the command line (sudo gedit........). Regarding the boot manager, I will have a look, when I'm home from work. If the documentation you posted is right, I should find something like /etc/default/grub. So long, but I'm sure, I will come up with more questions... ![]() |

'gf' moniker by a German resident could also mean (in futura) 'gutte frau', but then totto73 probably would refer to her as 'GF'
----------------------------------------LLL has the Boot-Up-Manager aka BUM, where it's very easy to select applications/services to start during the boot phase where I found some missing auto-start samba elements. I've incorporated already quite a few bits of the Meerkat elements, which finally produced a stable wifi environment, an finally truely transparent integration with the W7-64 network and much improved pieces as the Ubuntu Software Centre 2.1.3 that offers a history of what got installed when. For more bells see the "I Confez..." thread. Till then, seemingly the case is resolved, so that famous [RESOLVED] injection in the Opening Post Title is appreciated, even when it's a Chat Room [support] event. happy crunching. PS While editing the OP title, also change the OS name to Ubuntu, so people can actually find it with the search function on title only :D PPS: A video, How To Reduce Boot Up time: http://www.5min.com/Video/How-to-Reduce-Boot-up-Time-161784555 edit: BUM

Yes, I also think, everything is resolved, so I will mark the thread accordingly...
Many thanks to all of you again, without your help I wouldn't have 10 valid cdp2 tasks, and another 18 in pv... ![]() ![]() ![]() |
