Thanks. Dave has me worried as well. I missed him yesterday and Kieth said he goes to the VA on Mondays. Hopefully he is just sleeping in this morning. After all, it is not even 8 at his place. Well, his point total is up today so his machines are still running. I don't think he's doing too well health-wise at the moment. Hopefully, he's just taking it easy at home - and getting better. |

I have had 3 different power outages (very brief). I assumed that it was just our local guys trying to get through another very hot day. Then I read that the solar flare fo a few days ago is supposed to get here this morning. Anyone else notice anything? I have not noticed anything---but i remember in the late 70s we had a lot of solar storms I've just had the annoying second or two flickers lately that mess up all the electronics as a thunder-boomer goes thru. I understand next year is supposed to be a "solar max" when the sunspots and such are supposed to peak. I think you can get some of that "bad solar weather" before and after the peak year. Just 95-96F today but the humidity put the heat index up at 107. Wicked. |

I plan to start us a new thread here a bit sooner that normal this time around. I will be modifying the latter part of our thread header. While I most definitely do NOT have the physique to play the bouncer, I'm not really being given a whole lot of choice. In all likelihood, if there is a problem with anyone's post, it will also violate at least one the forum rules here. I will be assertive about reporting such posts. I will not tolerate intolerance or disrespect. I'm not really being given any choice on that either. We are a global team so keep that in mind when you post. Try to encourage global participation here, not drive it away.
----------------------------------------Here's the present draft of the end of our thread header: The Fine Print/Disclaimers/Et cetera: That last sentence above doesn't apply to just members of MyOnlineTeam. We welcome postings here from our fellow crunchers on other teams or on no team at all. We simply ask that you follow the rules for forum posts here at WCG. There are no topics that are we do not allow here, again, as long as they comply with the forum rules. However, the primary purpose of this thread is to recruit new members and to enable communications with and among current members, As much as we would like to give everyone the benefit of the doubt and be able to work with you offline if there happened to be a problem or question with a post you made, that sort of communication just isn't possible here at WCG. If we can't do that for everyone, it is not fair to do it for anyone. Thus, any post that we believe violates the forum rules will be reported to the WCG administrators and any decisions or actions will be up to them. This will be true no matter who made the post, member or not. As captain, I also reserve the right to address a problem post publicly. After all, it was posted publicly. If you think there is a problem with a post, do NOT quote it in your reply. If you do, you are equally guilty of any forum rules violation and subject to the same consequences. If you feel you are being attacked in a post, do not respond in kind, if at all. We all have a responsibility to report any posts the we believe violate the forum rules. That is the proper response. No matter how stongly you may disagree with the content of another post, you are expected to repect the poster. While I do not monitor any member's behavior in other threads here, I will equally act on posts that come to my attention. Each of us is entitled to our opinions but your behavior here reflects not just you but on MyOnlineTeam as well. This is not your bully pulpit. I reserve the right to expel from the team any member who cannot comply with this. We each have our passionate causes. The one to be pursued here is our crunching. There are better, more appropriate places for other causes. We are quite a diverse group needless to say and we have very different, sometimes passionate, viewpoints on many issues. However, when it comes to our work here, we are united and of one voice. We work to do our part in the fight against disease, in working togther for the benefit of our fellow humans. Input and feedback from everyone is welcome. I may well tweak it some more. |

Apparently tonight the aurora borealis, due to hieghten solar storms will be visible much lower in Northern Hemisphere. Cause of electrical outages? I saw that in browsing about the net. Apparently Wednesday night as well. I don't know what the real effect (if any) will be on electical/electronic systems.
