Well i do agree with you--maybe we can work something out--i hope you will stay here--It does seem to PC--in fact it is--also i was followed around the site and criticized i thought i could go to the chat room and inform people about the Communists and Socialists trying to take control of our Country but i was wrong---I do value your opinion--i hope you reconsider--Your Friend in Virginia Gerald, if you want to view it as PC, that's your right. As for what I intend it to be, that is the last thing it is. I have been asked more than once to ban any political posts here in our thread. I have not done that. Political posts can work here. As a global team, we can learn much from each other. A ban on political posts would prevent a discussion for example of say the parlimentarian system used in places like the UK, Canada and Australia. While it has similarities to what we have here in the US, there are significant differences. We would not want that discussion though to distract from the primary purpose of our thread - recruitment, recognition and team support. As for being followed around the site, I was contacted by someone not on our team about a thread you had started in the Chat room. In all honesty, if they thought there was a problem with it, it would have be best for them to simply report it to the admins. Since they made me aware of the thread, I did look at the posts in it, not just yours. I do recall one that I found questionable but not a clear rules violation in my mind. Those that I thought were clear violations, I reported. Whether they were or weren't was for the admins to decide. As for my post in that thread, it was as much my hope as anything that it would deter further problems. I have no interest nor desire to "monitor" posts in other threads by MOT members. When a possible problem is brought to my attention, I feel an obligation to look into it, just as much to protect MOT and its members. Personally, I find the tone of a number of threads in the chat room offensive. I do not follow those threads for that reason. The message and the debate in those threads has become pointless because of all the vitrol. I am simply trying to maintain civility and simple respect in the thread here. I don't think anyone here is happy, though for different reasons, with these changes to our thread, most emphatically myself. I believed that because we were all adults here who were here for a common cause that we could be civil to one another and be respectful of our differences. I believed that this team wanted to at least meet what was expected of it so I expected a lot of great things from the team. In many ways, the team far exceeded those expectations. We have had tremendous growth in our "output" over the years and we have much to be proud of. The inability to be respectful of each other's differences has been a bitter disappointment for me. It is a real threat to our real objective here and I see no choice but to take the course I am taking. If that results in some folks leaving the team, that is the price that must be paid. Nevertheless, I regret seeing anyone leave. I can appreciate your opinion and views and i did not mention anyone nor did i intend to.I have to respect the rules that have been made here. There is a huge struggle politically in the United States as of the last 20 years or so and i think if we are not careful we will lose the freedom of things such as WCG. I dont mean to imply that you are not doing a great job as Captain of MOT. I'm just saying there in this country about 70 percent of the people agree with me---I went to Washington on 9/12 last year and you would not believe the diversity of people that came from the entire country also the press said thousands but it was between 1 and 2 million with no mess left behind. So please DONT be disappointed you are doing the best with what you have Thanks Gerald. I readily admit to being a bit on the "paranoid" side at the moment when it comes to avoiding confusion or misunderstanding by not only those who post here but those who read here as well. |

Since you have allowed non-Members to post in this thread, I will give you my not so very humble opinion.
----------------------------------------I have played on *so* many sports teams in many different positions (you name it, in Basketball (Point Guard, Shooting Guard) , Football (six positions!), Baseball (5 positions), Golf, etc, in High School and in College). For a whack of Teams that have won many titles in Conference games or even All-Star games as well. The one thing that we (players) have never done is to take our disputes public. We held 'locker room' meetings and sorted out our differences. Just like all (great) Pro Teams do. It works. Now let's see everyone who has left here and man-up. It's all about the Team. And marysduby, just to give you an example (no, not to single you out), Glenn Beck (if he was a cruncher), would have merely posted funny jokes and encouraging words and he would have his politics for his TV show and not at the WCG (I think). There! There is no 'I" in Team. So just get the job done. In the end, that *is* all that matters. Remember, 'tis a great thing to 'take one for the Team'. Play Like A Champion Today. I think that Notre Dame has that slogan on the wall where you can see leaving and returning from their locker room. And yes, that Nike slogan. Just do it. Brothers (and Sisters) in Arms (crunching in this case). I know that all of you have heard that before. Return to your glory. Man up (or Woman Up and just do it. Ehh, c'mon and at least try dammit. ![]() |

They must be starting the beta for the Windows version of CEP2. I managed to snag four of them a couple of hours ago. With just 20K of them, they're bound to have gone fast. Running fast too - under four hours it looks like. From the beta announce, it sounds like CEP2 will be smaller and faster WUs compared to the other projects. I got a bunch of betas as well. 12 I think. It looks as if my Betas are going to end up at about 5 hours each on both an Windows 7 I7/920 (8 at a time) and a Vista Ultimate core2 quad 9550 (4 at a time). In running the CEPs on Unix (Ubuntu) based machines, I find they are not short at all--at least the ones I have been running. They are taking about 12 hours (on an I7/860 with 8 WUs running). Similar times on a Core2 Duo at 3.2GHz (two at a time). Just a FYI ![]() ![]() |

Johnny, there's one significant difference between sports teams and teams here. Sports teams compete against each other and analyze their competition looking for advantages. Public disputes can reveal ways to gain some advantage. Teams here do not compete in the true win-lose kind of competition. Our only venue is public.
