Oh, already Sunday, the weekend passes by fast. Jack, hopefully you'll solve your cooling problems. Perhaps try to reapply cooling paste. I use Arctic MX-4 which is one of the best. JP, Happy birthday! :) I'm doing much better with cooling, I7 2600K is up to 4.2 GHZ now, low 60s temp. My friend who does some software devolping, told me about some blade servers like 14 blades, the rack and 28 dual core 2.0 ghz cpu. They were like 1000 bucks (and 400 shipping in Canada). The only thing I dont like is that they have 4 2000 watt power supply units. uhm... even at my astoundingly low 6.5 cents per KW locked in rate, just 4000 watts is 180 bucks a month... Doesn't take long to put that money into energy efficient devices. I joined an energy Cooperative, they will look into green energy, and perhaps sponser micro generation. I so much want my WCG contribution to NOT be on the grid (how ironic considering the wcGrid). We get half our energy from coal up here in Alberta, and something like 300 sunny days(or partial days) a year. Ontario has a great feed in tarriff program pays something like 80 cents a kilowatt for roof mounted solar panel production. Maybe next year... |

Congrats Team!
----------------------------------------The initial boost for DSFL challenge ends today and we are firmly in 3rd place! Not bad for 8 or 9 active crunchers!!! Our other challenge is DSFL for October so we have a couple weeks left, We are doing pretty good there. Perhaps we can entertain ideas as to what other challenge to undertake next. Someone suggested a CEP2 challenge. I'm up for that if you like... "CEP2 Power Time" is a challenge that started October 15th, and ends Dec 15th. I'm sure we could still pass the last 10 teams or so with ZERO points on our first day (they are tied for 42nd place). And if there is another challenge or two or however many JP would like to entertain. Anyway Back to required reading for work (it's painful) Have a great day! |

Ok, Jack... I'm adding CEP2 to DSFL for my I7 now.
----------------------------------------As soon I reach 2 years of DSFL (still 80 days to go) I will switch it completely to CEP2. But I don't really see a point of pushing in a challenge which has started 5 months ago and will end in 4 days ;o) Maybe we can find a nice challenge starting from Nov 1st...  |
