Re: Join The International Team

Btw what kind of pc are you getting and are ypu going to overclock?

Intel Core i7 930 QC (2.8GHz, 8MB Cache) | 12GB Triple Channel 1333MHz DDR3 | Dual ATI Radeon HD 5870, 2GB GDDR5 | 300GB - SATA-II, 3Gb/s, 10k RPM, 16MB Cache HDD | It's an Alienware Area 51.

Not sure about overclocking, but considering it.

BTW, I'm not really a computer nerd but wish I did have the technical savvy you guys do, so I'm not building this, but spending a few $$$ to have it built to these specification. I do enjoy nerdish things. I guess I'm an honorary nerd or a nerd wannabe.

Good news indeed....It's had to believe we've been Crunching as a team for 3 months.

Re: Join The International Team

Flodisar,
I wish after a year without a result they would just drop the old devices.
I have a list of 'CRAY' computers. (my Q6600 I was so proud
of some years ago and is still crunching at a friends house)

I'm leaving for a couple weeks on holidays, going to be
in the other hemisphere. Sort of a once in a lifetime quasi
'pilgrimage' to Israel. See the world of the Bible in 3D.
I wish i could jump the river and get to Egypt to see the
pyramids during my second week there... I have been to
5 continents (military mostly) and would like to add
Africa to the list. Actually forget the list, the Great Pyramid
of Giza fascinates me.

Upgraded a network card to 10/100/1000 mps and a CAT 6 cable.
Coming back from Holidays and putting in new high speed
gaming/WCG modem and gettin better internet provider.
Will try the RAMDISK thing too. I always loved those back
in the days.
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem (esp for the next couple weeks!)

Re: Join The International Team

Jack007 I have been both in Israel and Egypt across the two countries. Israel due to its smaller size can be covered more quickly. Hope you have enough time for both, as they are fascinating. Weather will be good at this season, not too hot. Pyramids are fascinating but the Valley of the Kings and othe one of the Queens (Luxor region) allow you to visit extraordinary tombs. Enjoy your trip peace

Re: Join The International Team

Good morning everyone. Lost a dual core file server yesterday, Dave said he's gonna come by and see if we can resurrect it. This comes after the hard drive decided to go bad on my main machine, good thing there is I had some warning of the impending failure so got it cloned before losing any info. biggrin
Y'all have a great weekend. cool

Re: Join The International Team

Yes wish you a great trip experience Jack007, I have always wanted to visit Israel!

Btw, you talked about ramdisk, do you know if BOIC will gain large performance increases from it (does it need to swap so much data in and out, maybe for CEP2 though...).

cober001, WOW I am truly impressed by your incoming machine! getting that one on to the grid will be just awesome!
Overclocking is nice as long as you're careful with the voltages :)
But that beast for machine should overclock pretty well...

Let us know when you get it and publish some performance (points/hour) for tasks returned by it :)
