Re: 50 hour WU?

Are you saying that, if I have any projects suspended for WCG, no new WUs will be obtained for that project or any WCG project? If so, is this only related to the machine where the suspend was done?

dkt,

To BOINC the WCG counts as one project. All the subsciences have no meaning to the agent. The work fetch suspend is of course only for the machine where on you suspended a task. WCG servers would not know that you did so, only that client X or Y has a particular task but not the state (which I hope the servers will be told one day so there can be more efficient planning for jobs that threaten to go into No Reply state)

Venturing that a reply is not probable before Monday, so plz a bit more patience and thanks for holding the task in stasis.

cheers

Re: 50 hour WU?

Nuts, I have a D424 doin the same thing...
(yes i did suspend task with laim off, rebooted the computer
all to no effect).
If I could get credit for a 100 hour task I'd let it run :)
(although if it's not going to do any good for the
researchers what's the point).

Re: 50 hour WU?

From a newly parallel started thread, fear there is no hope, but propose still to hold them to prevent other waste copies to be crunched in vain.

Re: 50 hour WU?

a090 is in the same class, have now had several that were server aborted before client could get to them. Just let them sit there till the instruction comes/came. Not manually aborting them breaks the vicious circle of resending the suspects.

Note that the Techs have the ability to send an abort for started jobs too that are bad, to include those held in suspend.

Thanks for your patience.

Re: 50 hour WU?

Well that's 3days and the scientists have given no advice. I know it is one task in a 100 million, so I am sure they are not that bothered, but if i leave it suspended there will be no returns. If I run it for a day or so then some sort of a result will get back to them. I am not bothered about the time or credits for one WU and it is on an i7 system, so no odds to me at all if it runs or not. It's still suspended. Any change in advice?
- it is still there and my wingman has still not reported in, so I am guessing it is best to leave it as is?

Re: 50 hour WU?

Hope is that owners of these tasks read the forums... one would expect that as DDDT2 is a rarity in regular mix project profiles. Once you see the 4th error out, it is save to abort the task without initiating any further circulation. Probably after 3 errors with 2 in progress it stops... uplinger or knreed corrected me on that last time. How to test... well abort that task now and the 4th error will not initiate a 6th copy I'd think :D.

But holding on is nicer... till techs speak up if they need a data-dump or an aut-server abort on bad tasks.

cheers
