Re: 50 hour WU?

Wingman's runtime was 0.78 hours. Tried a restart, still showed no progress.
Just for my own knowledge what could cause the issue with my WU when the wingman seemed to have no problems?

Re: 50 hour WU?

No idea, timing is everything, a borderline OC for instance... fluke maybe. These DDDT2 jobs really push the envelope, big ram/vm users and not sure if BOINC could be buggy when it gets 4 or 8 concurrent to chew.

So far ran some 700 for this research and had 2 or 3 failing, but then failing for all and the errors for the WU maxing out at 5 copies. 2 were aborted by server even before starting them, so there are some around that seem to go outside the box.

Progress by the way does not start to show until after 15-45 minutes depending on device speed. That time is used to build the model.

Re: 50 hour WU?

Thanks Sek. This particular box is an i7-860. It is OCd to 3.6 GHz with 4 GB DDR3 1600 MHz memory but after much tinkering it has been stable for the last month or so. Third funky WU out of 700+. thinking

Re: 50 hour WU?

Hi,
For information, I've just sent back two WUs (ts05_b347_pe0000, ts05_b343_pe0000) taking over 30 hours each on a P4HT, which usually computes very reliably within the expected time. The two WUs were announced at 21 hours each.
Cheers,
Yves

Re: 50 hour WU?

It just took one error, for the resends to start. Pitty the scientists did not do a server abort or stop the task. Ended up going dry for WCG when I could not sit over the system, but i7 was hooked up to other Boinc projects. At least I get to keep my rainbow for another day.
