Just wondered if these last 2 batches only went to ''reliable'' hosts. Had nine trickle in... at 4.5 hours, that 1.5 days closer to blue.
chaz0426, the supply is sparse and each run the scientists have to validated the work assess if it's good to build more for the particular target. C-Type depends on B-Type depends on A-Type, depends on an Pre-A-Type not run on the public grid. In one of the sticky posts up top of the DDDT2 forum you'll find details. The WCG staff is loath of predicting anything beyond the single rains/showers, so probably it will continue like this, maybe somewhat more frequent. --//-- |

Generic texts are dangerous in saying things not meant to be implied, but here it is as an emailed announcement excerpt to a DDDT2 related webcast:
This is the "Discovering Dengue Drugs - Together - Phase 2" project that many of you run every day on your laptops and PCs for World Community Grid, helping us make progress towards identifying promising drug candidates to combat the Dengue, Hepatitis C, West Nile, Yellow Fever, and other related viruses. Though hundreds of thousands are afflicted with these diseases each year, many fatally, there are still no effective treatments. emphasis mine. Maybe I spoke too soon, but I do ''believe'' some things are intended ''to 'happen'' at the same time. Don't ignore the howling dog ;P --//-- |

I have a couple WUs still running. I (and 4 wingmen) got the error below on one WU; the rest have run all the way through and are either valid or PV.

It has not been raining any tasks in many months here. I did 4 almost right away, and none since. Unlike other sites, I do not know how to find out how many tasks are available for downloading. I have about 7 GBytes RAM available, two 3.06 GHz Xeon processors, FiOS data connection, etc. Lots of other tasks run 24/7 under BOINC, but essentially none for Dengue 2. Is it me, or is that just how it is?

Is it me, or is that just how it is? unfortunately, it's just how it is...Many posts have been made as to the very sparse/intermittent nature of this project - and, I'm sure that if the scientists could have it any other way, they would. As said though in those other posts (in deed, just 5 up from this), this DDDT2 phase 2 project depends on a 'cascading waterfall' effect, where the scientists need to check/verify the results at each stage of the process before the next round of WU's can be generated. ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by gb009761 at Aug 10, 2011 7:28:38 PM] |

How do I find out if my host (trillian) is reliable or not?
----------------------------------------In fact, how you you determine if it is reliable or not? I have been sent only 4 work units for the old Dengue and only 4 for Denge 2. I infer from the posts in this thread that some people are getting quite a lot of work units. I have no trouble getting work units for other BOINC projects, including other WCG projects. Only Dengue 2 is embargoing me. ![]() |

Only Dengue 2 is embargoing me. The people that get quite a lot of work units have quite a lot of computers or a tremendous amount of luck (or both). The easiest way to determine if your computer is reliable is to check if any repair tasks have been sent to it; generally, anything that ends in a _2 or higher (except the project that sends out 19 results). As far as I know, this project only requires reliable hosts for A type units. Those are small in number and long in run-time; not the best for racking up your badge levels. My recommendation is to just keep plugging away at it, you'll get the results in time. Other threads cover detailed strategies for increasing your chances of getting results better than I can. ![]() Distributed computing volunteer since September 27, 2000 |

How do I check if any repair tasks have been sent to my machines? I have no record of any tasks being sent to it other than the page that just shows the number of hours and tasks.
