Re: Errors TS06 Run October 27 2010

OK, for those who haven't seen the other discussion thread about those errors, the rain has been halted.
Gosh, those techs are powerful! Who else has the power to stop rain? wink
Which raises the question whether we are to look forward to a new shower of Dengue2 or Beta thinking
Either way: It's time to change the title of this thread to a new chorus: Let it rain!

Re: Errors TS06 Run October 27 2010

After all the reported errors I unfold my umbrella:

User aborted: 27
Erros: 3
Valid: 2 (pl)
Pending: 1 (pl)

No sign of our forecaster Uplinger.
Will a new frontal system soon arrive with continuous heavy rain or only some droplets from coalescing water vapor out of stratocumulus?

Actually, he posted the following in the error thread:
No news yet. We have tested the work units and have sent more detailed logs to the researchers for them to look at. It looks like the rain clouds are going to be dry for probably the next few days.

Re: Errors TS06 Run October 27 2010

It would be nice, I think, if future distributions of work were announced with a new thread. The "rain" thing is cute and all. But I'd prefer have an admin make a more general announcement in a new thread, instead of having to "wade through" all of the wonderings and opining.

New thread for It's raining Dengue... Re: Errors TS06 Run October 27 2010

I don't think we need to use a new thread to discuss the "rain" we get, or not. Whichever page you go to in the thread, you can easily jump to the last post for the thread and that should give you an idea of whether anything has changed for the thread.

OK, that's cool, we disagree.

This is a project that has intermittent work. I don't see why news has to be buried in the back of a long-running 300+ post thread. No matter how easy it is to find the end of it. I think a new thread announcing new work keeps it out in front. Easier to be in the know.

But hey, that's just my opinion.

No it's simpler to keep on one thread simply cuz
those of us who have a WATCH THREAD thing going
can easily be notified if something happens.
As it is, I missed this (on my birthday no less)
and I would like a sapphire badge so I can quit
hunting DDDT2 WU's, Not that I will quit them
just so I dont have to do them exclusively.
(I wish i could spell)

Re: New thread for It's raining Dengue...

We could attempt a middle road... A sticky admin-only thread to update us about work availability (they could even clean it out or delete it after each rain) and the rest of us get to stay here in an ever-expanding 'yay, we have DDDT2 work!' thread.
That way people who set up thread watches can stick with the admin-only sticky and the rest of us can refresh our thread every 50 pages or so (I think that was about where we aborted the prior thread)

Sounds logical to me. What's the hold up? biggrin

Re: New thread for It's raining Dengue...

I vote for this idea also! While it is certainly easy to jump to the end of a long post, it's not necessarily easy to tell if someone official (i.e., uplinger) has posted since the last time I looked. Obviously this gets even tougher if those postings come in a side thread (like the current error thread). For an intermittent project like this one, this sticky thread would work much like the official beta announcement forum, which is quite effective.
