As a precaution, I've set the WU cache on my machines to .5 days in case the outages last longer than expected. I normally run at .2 days to keep my machines in fast and reliable categories.

Some notes for today: Extra congrats to Barney for his persistence! Here's to the half-mil mark next! Great points here lately too! ![]() Thanks for the recognition Keithhenry, it's been a hard slog as i only run WGC on my Dual Core Laptop so i'm no big hitter, but i got through the last 100k relatively quickly so i hope to reach 500k before the year is out. Well done to my fellow myonlineteam team mates for their fantastic efforts, we are making an invaluable contribution (like all WGC teams large and small) to making a difference to mankind. There has been some talk of netbooks on this thread recently which has prompted me to ask.....
----------------------------------------I have a 2gb Samsung NC10 netbook which i would like to use for WGC crunching. Is there a particular WGC project i could run on it that would make best use of the Atom processor and have generally short run times? Thanks, Guys ! Oh and Thank you Judson ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() [Edit 2 times, last edit by barney15c at Oct 6, 2010 3:27:00 AM] |

RT, I too just ordered, Sunday, a new AMD 6 core 3.2 Ghz processor, motherboard and all the other required parts to build a new computer. Had been meaning to do it for some time but $$$. Not sure the wife's reaction, Ralph my dog may be in the house and I out. Have never had a AMD processor driven maqchine before so curious how the Thurbon 45 nm (I believe) compare with my Intel i7-3.33, 4 core and 5440-2.83,dual 2 core processors. Good morning by the way. ![]() ![]() OK -- I may not be building it, but I will be adding a system to my farm shortly. I bought a Lenovo IdeaPad (why does everything have to be a Pad?) with an i5 processor. This page Lenovo Y560 is close. Not sure what my sons added to run it up anoher hundred bucks. Ok i went to that page and it said--Adult Signature Required on Delivery-- ![]() Love the pics ![]() ![]()

Oh and Thank you Judson ![]() If you're just looking at run time, C4CW and HCC have the shortest run times on my systems. Well, DDDT2 type C WUs have the shortest run time but you don't know when they'll be available. If you're going to be using the netbook for other things, HCMD2 has the smallest memory requirements (by far) and most of them will finish in about 6 hours no matter how much work they've done with a few exceptions. If you're not going to run much else on your netbook, 2GB is enough to run any of the projects. - D |

Good Morning! ![]() ![]() ![]() Good Morning Dave and the rest of MOT. ![]() ![]() On the Atom processors: I am running C4CW on my two. I bought some kitchen cooling racks (for taking stuff out of the oven) and have them setting on that.. well actually I got out my welder and built a stack of these coolers and have 3 laptops sitting one atop another. They are 9" apart vertically. I do not know which of the projects would run best on the little guys but none of them will run very well..just because they are mopeds pulling trailers ![]() Congrats Lee. I could not agree with you more. ![]() Darth: I keep my queues at .333 days normally. I am going to bump them to 1 day for the same reason you did. And bring them back down on Friday (probably). Thanks for the headsup Kieth. Team is doing well. Makes me happy ![]() If I am lucky my computer parts will get here today and I can fire up an Ubuntu CE2 hummer this evening or tomorrow. (color me broke). Much to the chagrin of the local computer repair shops, I have been fixing peoples computers for sub-market prices to make some extra WCG money -- Man those guys have a bird nest on the ground. EDIT: Judson: that email address did not work ? "No account by that name" EDIT2: grammer ![]() ---------------------------------------- [Edit 2 times, last edit by RT at Oct 6, 2010 5:28:03 PM] |
