Are you constantly adding more compounds as they are computed or will there be another large group release in the future?

Dear Cmdrd,
----------------------------------------as we want to strictly separate the master database and the publicly visible one, the plan is to update the database weekly. Since we still haven't migrated to our dedicated server and since the v1.1 will give access to a number of additional data tables, we decided to do everything in one go in a first big update, which will however take a bit longer. We have just passed the mark of 18,000 years of CPU time – whohoo!!!

Together with our friends at Harvard Research Computing, we are planning to implement a few changes to improve our long-term backup setup on the tape robot. We’ve been thinking and talking about this for a while and finally want to get it done.

Could we get an update on the experimental side of things soon please? Is the Bao group having success synthesizing the more promising compounds: do their measured electronic properties match the predicted ones: are other groups making extensive use of the new mega-database? This sort of thing would be interesting to know.

Dear svincent,
your request is a bit tricky because we shouldn't really speak about the details of ongoing work of our partners and collaborators - they are operating in a highly competitive academic environment. But what we can say from the CEPDB traffic analysis is that people do in fact sign up and check it out. We can also say that we are in contact with other groups interested in the data and which have access to more detailed data than what is already available publicly. We are also actively working on 2nd generation candidate libraries which explicitly incorporate feedback from collaborators (one point of criticism of the current ones are for instance that many of the candidates are challenging for synthesis). Best wishes Your Harvard CEP team |

Today we have another Skype meeting with our friends at Kitware to coordinate upcoming development and implementation efforts for the CEPDB. All hands on deck :). We are very excited about the CEPDB v1.1 which will emerge from this.

Thanks for the response cleanenergy: look forward to hearing more when you're in a position to talk about it.

The first molecules from our new 2nd generation candidate library will hit the grid in the coming days.
