Doing well. Lots going on as usual but would not want it any other way. Arab world seems to be under going a transformation! Hopefully good for the people of those countries. In my travels seems the people are usually great it is those in authority, particularly the government that are the problem. I guess if governing were easy the world would be a lot different.
----------------------------------------Ordered some new computer parts to finish my next and last machine for a while. Did not ask my wife's permission so hopefully she will accept my apology!!! Should be sorta fast. I really like those Xenon processors as in other machine before I figured out why it would occasionally crash it was running for at least weeks at 80 C and now that fixed it runs like a charm at below 40C. Will over clock but still have a lot to learn, also will try to run Linux. From what I understand one down loads Linux on a disc or such and then starts computer. The Linux then takes one through the process of installing? Will none the less read on it to see what I need to do. Hopefully all the needed parts will be here next week as placed order yesterday. Yes I did edit but only as I hit reply accidentally before I was finished. Will try not to make the mistake of editing again. I apologize to the team!!! Yes I did edit but only as I hit reply accidentally before I was finished. Will try not to make the mistake of editing again. I should be that lucky! Hitting reply too soon would be nice. My knack is for hitting something like F5. Even worse, the probability of that seems to increase with the letter count of the post! ![]() |

It's been awhile since I did a post to this thread. I keep checking with what is going on with DDDT2 as I have set my projects to participate in all, but when DDDT2 work is available I won't get any of that work unless DDDT2 is my only project. I still need 230 days to reach 2 years on that project. And I do not want to forget my taxes since they may be somewhat difficult for 2010 - I think I may get some professional help for that chore.

The Linux then takes one through the process of installing? Yes it does. If you have never installed linux before i suggest you to start with ubuntu 10.10 (or 10.04 for long term support). All ubuntu installation disks are also live-disks which means that you can see that ubuntu works with your hardware before installing it. But the process should be very easy and your ubuntu should be running with in couple of hours. |

I still need 230 days to reach 2 years on that project. I have noticed the same, but i think there is such a huge demand for DDT2 work at the moment that they rarely get in top of line unless they are the only thing you accept. |

My knack is for hitting something like F5. Even worse, the probability of that seems to increase with the letter count of the post! ![]() Frankly I never worry about edit...as long as I do it within a few minutes to an hour. Is anyone really concerned about it? The DDDT2 project has seemed to be that way for some time. I had to camp on it with nothing else selected with a 2 day queue and then every night reduce the queue request to 1 day and select other projects to fill the 24 hour queues to make sure that I did not run out of work then reverse the process some hours later (going back to 2 day queue and DDDT2 only). As to the installation of Linux (well Ubuntu at least), I support what finman said. I also agree with dkt on the tax thing. I did my own taxes from an early age but now my affairs are a bit more complicated and I need a CPA to make sure I don't screw things up. Too bad they don't do it pro-bono. We need a single simple tax system so all those people consumed on both sides of the taxing buisness can do something more productive. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Thanks guys! Glad to see lots of participation on our page. See our total output climbing which is great. Recently, though I did not watch, IBM's computer (super computer) played Jeopardy against two former champions and beat them pretty handedly! It generated lots of publicity for WCG as half the winnings went to WCG. Apparently the number of new members for WCG that usually sign on in a given day went up by 700% each day during the three days of the contest. Hopefully we will have some of those new members join!
Concerning DDD-2 I did similarly to what RT did and camped out to be able to hit two years. Happy to procure my badge and move on as was a bit of work. Thanks Finman and RT on the help concerning Linux. I must sound like a broken record ( for those of you old enough to know what a record is) ( never though I would be old enough to say that) in claiming to start using Linux!!! Should have the rest of my new parts Friday so will shoot for next weekend to do it. Concerning taxes yes I advise paying and using professional help! |
