Re: smilesmile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 48smilesmile

[skip]Concerning DDD-2 I did similarly to what RT did and camped out to be able to hit two years. Happy to procure my badge and move on as was a bit of work. Thanks Finman and RT on the help concerning Linux. I must sound like a broken record ( for those of you old enough to know what a record is) ( never though I would be old enough to say that) in claiming to start using Linux!!! Should have the rest of my new parts Friday so will shoot for next weekend to do it.
Concerning taxes yes I advise paying and using professional help!

I have a collection of vinyl records I want to transfer to CD and I purchased a player to transfer the sound to the computer. The only problem is that I have not had enough time to start doing this. I really want to start it soon so I can judge just how good the result is. I also need to find a good way to make labels for the jewel cases of which I have both the original type and the type which is half as thick (new type). I think I would need to print on stock that is sticky on one side so the result could be stuck to the new style of case. I would expect to be able to copy the jacket for the vinyl records to be able to reduce the size to apply to a jewel case.
There is also a type of CD on which the HP printers can transfer an image to one side of the CD, but I have not obtained a price for this CD yet.

dkt. I tried to do some transfer from vinyl records and ended up having it done. I could not make it sound right..but that was years ago; perhaps the equipment is better now. I also did a bunch of 8mm home movies over to DVD 8mm>VHS>DVD. That went fairly well. The idea was to get rid of the tapes and store it all on DVD. Now I have the DVDs and can't bring myself to throw away the tapes. d oh

Everyone have a great day.

I have 8mm home movies and I found out that Costco will transfer the pictures to CD at a reasonable price. That will be my next project to do after the remodeling is complete. There is no transfer to VHS as an intermittent step. It seems there are things we have done in our lives which we want to save, and I think CDs are more favorable than VHS.

I've heard of very mixed results of vinyl -> MP3 / WAV / etc., conversions. You could always go overboard and get a laser turntable (yes, they do exist). I'm going to wait another year, or two, or three.

Let them convert just a few at first - just in case. Some places send your 8mm stuff off to a place for the work to be done (vs on-site). If they lose them, you have nothing. I've known folks that have lost all their old home movies that way.

EDIT: Better yet, make sure wherever you have them done, they do the work on-site. No chance they could lose your movies that way.
