Gave Chrome a spin and immediately took a dislike over it starting an additional 25Mb process for every tab opened, and sure enough, there is a catch:
Firefox easily outperforms Chrome with many tabs open http://www.geek.com/articles/news/firefox-eas...ith-many-tabs-open-201108 Whatever the reason for this happening in Chrome, if you are someone who always has a lot of tabs open–a researcher or tech blogger, for example, then you are better off using Firefox until Google have this issue fixed. However, up to a certain point, and probably for the majority of users, you aren’t going to experience this problem. At any rate, I'm fine with Firefox 5.0 and the TabGroups Manager add-on that allows for sets of tabs to be put to sleep, ready when you want to do something on a particular subject. Cohabs well with the Ctrl-Shift E that offers a thumbnail overview of all active tabs/groups. --//-- |
