Re: "The survivors"

The bad news is that the outage caused a significant loss for the team.
The good news is that everyone lost a big chunk of run time and results so we didn't fall behind because of it.

Re: "The survivors"

IMHO DDDT2 is a disaster.
All of my problems with invalids and errors are DDDT2 WUs.
I stopped running it a while back because of the high error rate.
I took notice that after the outage yesterday the DDDT2 WUs have not been available.
Not saying that DDDT2 was the cause of the outage but it is a strange coincidence.

From RCC: My goal is to become comfortable monitoring multiple computers while traveling.

I'm pretty sure they'll have WiFi at Disney World. devilish

I see you got a new Mosquito, in spite of the issues. Cool!

Re: "The survivors"

Starbucks, McDonald's, and hotels also have free WIFI.
Coffee, hamburgers, and sleeping are my three favorite things.

Starbucks, McDonald's, and hotels also have free WIFI.

Starbucks - Not here in the boonies...
McDonalds - Never! ...
hotels - $10 a day, Marriott (Atlanta).

It was 104 F here yesterday (40C, 313K), can't wait for the real summer heat.

Re: "The survivors"

Hmmm.....
Let see now, you live near a major earthquake fault and you have to pay for free WIFI?
http://www.starbucks.com/coffeehouse/wireless-internet
http://www.mcdonalds.com/us/en/services/free_wifi.html
http://www.marriott.com/news/detail.mi?marrArticle=179606

Is that why you're anxious to go to Disney World?

Re: "The survivors"

dont worry we will make it back up...

as for dddt2 yes it has its problems... but it isnt a lost cause it is just like every other project when new batches of work units come out they sometimes have errors the diffrence is instead of one round of problems every round will have issues... as for the error ones it i lost a total of 2 hours do to the errors from the last batch and got 20 days advance on dddt2.. so i dont think its as bad as people think

Re: "The survivors"

My loss was 12-16 hours wall clock time.
With 25 CPUs that equals 300-400 hours of run time.
The lost results were not limited to DDDT2.

There was another less publicized event on 6/16.
Look at the chart Team Daily Scores at http://stats.free-dc.org/stats.php?page=team&proj=bwcg&team=9611

What I learned from this is that at the first sign of server problems or DDDT2 errors, all network activity will be suspended for no less than 12 hours.
Might consider not running DDDT2 WUs until it runs for a week error free for other members.

Re: "The survivors"

.....you live near a major earthquake fault .....

Shouldn't be a problem. The steel and concrete in the Nuclear plant they built on top of it should help to stabilize it! sad
