Re: smilesmile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 54 smilesmile

I just did a reboot to make sure the feed synchronization is not an internal problem, and I got the same message after I restarted the browser. I won't be able to check for any feedback until tomorrow afternoon.
Thanks for any help,
Dave

Dave, I googled "Microsoft Feeds Synchronization". It appears to be part of IE and is used to monitor RSS feeds you've subscribed to. If you don't have any RSS subscriptions, you can disable it on the Content tab of Internet Options in IE. As for the error message itself, found someone that got that after doing a repair install. Apparently, the install of IE (IE8 in this instance) didn't complete okay. IE thought it was IE6 but the computer showed it had updates to IE8. It was recommended to uninstall IE8 and "run the update again" to fix, which appeared to work.

Thanks for the help Keith. I do not normally use IE, any version, but I will check into updating IE (downloading, uninstall, install) to see if that resolves the problem. Some of the microsoft updates are specifically for IE. Right now I have just moved the message box off the screen as much as possible and I do not appear to be having any problems with XT.

If you have Windows Update set to automatically install updates, it may have troed upgrading you to IE8 without your knowing it. If that went kablooie, that could be your problem. Quick fix would be to just disable feeds in Internet Options in IE. Most likely, the right fix would be to confirm you have IE installed and just uninstall it since you don't use it.

Good Morning MOT! It would seem that storm that hit the southwest US and moved through the Texas Panhandle is now in Kentucky and close enough to hit me with its southern fringe. We got a fair amount of rain overnight and plenty of wind - enough to knock out the power just after 2AM. It's back now after about 8.5 hours. It's still windy but it looks like the rain has moved out. Wind will die down later this afternoon supposedly.

Re: smilesmile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 54 smilesmile

Thanks again Keith. I have another resolution I also want to try. I purchased a Windows 7 upgrade some time ago, but I have not yet installed it. I am in the process right now of finishing all of the work I have left on the laptop so I can upgrade XT to 7. There are definitely some files I want to copy to a flash drive before I do this, but are there any other gotchas I need to be aware of when I try to install 7 on the laptop?

I installed Win7 on my now 7 year old Dell Inspiron last year. It actually works better now than when it had XP on it. Backing up your files is a good idea. The Win7 install will move all your XP stuff to a file named windows.old. Unfortunately you won't be able to run programs from there. You'll have to reinstall what you need or want.
Good luck.
