HPF2: Recent Error - Exit code 230

No, but would boot anyhow. Before that, please trace back this fail of the HPF2 job in the client message log [or stdoutdae.txt file in the BOINC datadir). It might tell more of the conditions under which this occurred.

Historically, only once before reported for a W7 system: https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/printpost_post,256183

Re: HPF2: Recent Error - Exit code 230

hmmm, variations on the theme of stuck [endless looping] work units are amongst them per these lines:

01-Mar-2012 20:20:00 [World Community Grid] Aborting task qc287_00027_7: exceeded elapsed time limit 190309.235460
01-Mar-2012 20:20:00 [World Community Grid] Aborting task qc289_00016_0: exceeded elapsed time limit 190309.235460
01-Mar-2012 20:20:00 [World Community Grid] Aborting task qc290_00142_2: exceeded elapsed time limit 190309.235460
01-Mar-2012 20:20:00 [World Community Grid] Aborting task qc291_00044_13: exceeded elapsed time limit 190309.235460

Essentially they cut off after 10 times the original estimated run time [for that device]. That happens very occasionally, not in droves. If this client used to process HPF2 correctly, then maybe do a project reset.

Your first log snip suggests failures right at the start within seconds. Broken result downloads or a bad batch build, but again suggest a project reset to redownload all the science application components. If that does not resolve the issue, run the installer again and opt for "repair" which will fix up any permission issues that may have developed.

Let us know if anything more comes up.

Re: HPF2: Recent Error - Exit code 230

Falls in the category "slap on forehead, too simple": Open BOINC Manager > Advanced View > Project Tab > Select WCG line > Hit Reset project button on left, same place where some go every other hour to hit the Update button as they cant let BOINC take its most efficient scheduling time to report tasks and fetch new work.

--//--

edit: And in impulse I just did hit Update myself, to clear 13 tasks with "Ready to Report"... cant get used to the new ways in the alpha client and only fetching work when the cache has reached "Minimum buffer" for one big fetch to top up to "Max additional work buffer". biggrin

Re: HPF2: Recent Error - Exit code 230

Thankyou......as they say the only easy questions are the ones you know the answer too.

Now I know too!

After rebooting the machine it appears to be fine again but I will monitor over the coming days and reset ASAP.

Its overclocked and whilst it is not getting too hot only 52c I think I need to check the settings, clean out and monitor........maybe the excuse I need to buy something new....?
