I'm looking at buying a good crunching computer... Any ideas? Any good websites? Mike Hi Mike, I don't have any good ideas, but I am waiting for an answer to this as well. I don't know what the latest designs are Intel is working with, but I would expect a new version of Windows would be a requirement to support more processors if that is the direction to take. I don't know what changes may also be required for BOINC... |

Great Green Fleece: Air Force Spends $59 Per Gallon for Biofuel
----------------------------------------The U.S. Air Force spent $59 per gallon on biofuels for a demonstration last month intended to show the promise of the alternative energy source. That’s more than double what the U.S. Navy spent as part of its so-called Great Green Fleet demonstration. The total cost for the 11,000 gallons of synthetic jet fuel from Gevo Inc., a Colorado-based company, amounts to $639,000. For its demonstration, Navy officials spent $12 million on 450,000 gallons of fuel, or approximately $26 a gallon. Combining the fuel with petroleum in a 50-50 mixture reduces the cost per gallon to around $15, more than four times the cost of petroleum alone. The company providing the Navy’s biofuel, Solazyme, was a recipient of stimulus grant funding. http://blog.heritage.org/2012/07/23/great-gre...9-per-gallon-for-biofuel/ ![]() |

Hi Mike. There's a lot of us here. It has been a rather interesting experience to say the least. It was an unusual change in my PSA in a routine physical that lead to finding my cancer. I never would have known otherwise as there were no symptoms. My urologist really made the point for early detection when he described the strategy as curing it when it's localized and containing it when it's not. My PSA was very low at 0.9 but realized it had been a while since I had the finger, so the Doc did that last year and found a lump. Consult with Urology at the Denver VA followed along with the subsequent Biopsy in January which showed a Gleason score of 6 (3+3) in one of the 12 samples. They didn't do a CT but are pretty sure it was localized. I had the da Vinci robotic surgery on June 26 and agree with the catheter being the only bad part so far! I had it ten days but felt like an eternity. Bladder control is getting better as each week passes. I have my follow up on Aug 8 when I'll find out the pathology report as well. What's interesting to me is that when you've been diagnosed with this, you join a fraternity of other prostate cancer patients & survivors. I was doing IT work at a business last week and the owner had one of his employees come talk to me. His PSA had gone from around 28 to 35 and then to 45! According to cancer.gov, "there is no specific normal or abnormal PSA level," however, that's really high! He has a biopsy scheduled. He asked a lot of questions about the surgery since he did not want radiation if it is cancer. I wish you and everyone else afflicted with this continued recovery and a clean bill of health! |
