I thought I and someone else already responded to this note. Hum..I wonder if they did a restore or something. Anyway, you ask a good question. Exactly what kind of computer do you have? If the case is a small one, that will limit your choices a lot.

OK... Dell Studio XPS. Exactly which XPS? Some are full towers and some mid-towers. and some are laptops and some are small form factor.

Dr. Mike: In order to figure out what GPUs might go in your computer, you need to know how much space there is inside. The Dell XPS systems run many different sizes and so we need to know exactly which XPS model you have. Then we can measure one (presuming we can find one).

You might just want to take it to the local computer guy and ask him to look at it. Then ask him to determine how big (how long specifically) a video card can you put in there and then crosscheck the page on this site that tells you which GPUs are not supported with the GPU cards on Newegg that are no longer than what the local computer guy tells you. Generally you probably want an ATI/AMD card and get the most powerful one you can.

Looking back at this it sounds complicated. Perhaps just take it to that guy, give him the list of ones that won't work and tell him you want the most powerful one you can get that is ATI/AMD based. See how much he wants for it and then if you want ask if it is a good one here. One other issue you need to watch. It could be that the system will have to also have an upgraded power supply. The bigger GPU cards tend to be power hungry. straight face
