coffee coffee coffeeGood Monday Morning Team coffee coffee coffee

Congratulations - dc and pauldarleen!! applause applause

Nice brisk morning here in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. No frost on the pumpkin but close smile

I have had scores of problems with my new 7970 video card with BSODs all over the place (Blue Screen Of Death). I thought I had found the problem with a memory stick. Turns out that was not it. Now I am thinking it is a power supply that is not providing clean enough power. I have detuned the GPU to reduce the power it uses by 10%. So far, it seems to have helped but then I have thought that before. I am kind of a PC EMT but I think I need a real PC Dr. straight face

Did you check to see if you had up to date drivers??-I installed a R 6670 2 GB DDR3 and working fine---It does only have 300watt power supply and was a little concerned about that---

coffee coffee coffeeGood Tuesday Morning Team coffee coffee coffee

Congratulations coingames, NiceMedTexMD and dkt!!! applause applause applause

Great about moving up in the team rankings. Lots of room left to go I am sure. smile

Gerald. Yes, I have been messing with drivers, power supply, memory, lamp shades, the pencil drawer. I am only sitting my coffee cup on the right side of the screen, wearing my hat sideways and wearing two different colored sox. I am thinking some of these things might not help. But hey, it is only weird if it doesn'€™t work.

Right now there is a Falcon 700w Power supply in there. The drivers are Beta6 versions at this point based on the convention wisdom of those running this GPU.

Nanoprobe sent me another lead on a possible solution (which is the replacement of one of the modules in the driver set) but the machine has been running with a power setting that demands only 90% of normal power for some 28 hours now. I hate to mess with it since it is running. That point dip I saw yesterday was due to it failing and giving me a BSOD every time I turned around. It was down most of the night Sunday night/Monday morning. Had I not had the NVIDIA 580 GPU running on another machine, it would have been much more of a drop.

Anyway, I guess it is time for me to get back with it and try Nanoprobe'€™s suggestion and see if I can bring the power back up.

It does not seem to me that it should be this problematic. Perhaps it is just pilot error. sad

Everyone do your very very best to have a great day. You will not have this one to live over again.

Yup. 300 sounds pretty low to me. I don't know anything about that card but that would worry me. I understand you should not run a power supply over about 50-60%. Do you have a meter to get the system wattage? I would check it old friend. I have no evidence or personal experience with it but I have heard that too little power can damage parts.

You know i only have a voltage tester--i think i will get a better power supply--i have to replace one and waiting for delivery--I recon i need a better way to test these things smile

Re: smilesmile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 58 smilesmile

Two new team records today - for team points and team results!

I see Sek's dashboard chart has HCC with 96 days left. GFAM is also under a year. Will need to check that again in a few days to see how fast HCC is dropping. It's going to be interesting to see how long these GPU-enhanced-numbers last!
