Re: Graphics Card Performance

Dedicated cruncher:
Running 8 instances for dual 7970 on 980x = 3:14Min average (Elapsed Time)

Non-dedicated cruncher:
Running 8 instances for dual 7970 on 990x = 3:17Min average (Elapsed Time)

Are those 8 WUs x 2 cards or 4 WUs x 2 cards?

Re: Graphics Card Performance

TY, Will definately find a way by tuesday when the 7870 shows up :)
Now... conflicting info on whether the app_info.xml file will work for NV cards on XP64. Can it work? Have 2 EVGA 570 factory OC to 797 that are in a 990x @4.4 ghz with 6G Ram. They are kicking what 580's show on charts and even a bit more :) but 1 each :(
Can XP do the app_info.xml? File/Folder finding is issue here as well. TY in advance for any help.

7xxx series cards will not run on 32 bit XP. No driver support. Doubt they will run on XP 64 bit either for the same reason.

These are 8x2 HCC GPU plus 1 GFAM CPU.
16 GPU and 1 CPU = 17 Total task running per computer

Has anyone tried installing the App SDK manually?

On my 2008 R2 Server x64, App SDK is hidden during install but it works when i installed it manually from the extracted folder.

Since 2008 R2 Sever is based on Vista/7 I don't think there is an APP SDK version that is even coded to run 7xxx series cards on XP.

Re: Graphics Card Performance

I tried all to get it running on XP. there is NO manual working possibility. and i tried much. I had to use a new Win7 licence for HCC only.

You have a lot of optimization to undergo. I run 8 work units on a single HD 7950 with my FX-8120 and achieve a rate of about 28 seconds per work unit, which is about 3:30 minute average elapsed time, GPU kernel time is 18 seconds, so that is 10 seconds of CPU time, then 18 seconds of GPU time. It sounds like you are only using one card instead of two. Your memory will matter much more than your CPU here, what kind of memory do you have in your system? I saw a major improvement going from 1333 to 1600, and 1600 to 1800Mhz overclock. I believe you need to be running 2133Mhz quad channel in order to saturate two 7970s.

Well, you didn't 'have' to 'buy' a license.
