I was just wondering where we currently are with the crunching of target 07 for C4CW...
----------------------------------------The techs indicated that target 07 had aprox 4M WUs. My first C4CW WU was c4cw_ target07_ 000056307 _ 0-- and the latest one I have received is c4cw_ target07_ 002620588 _ 0--... does this mean that we have plowed through over half the WUs for target 07? Thanks, CJSL Crunching for a better future... |

It appears we have returned 167,536 WUs through yesterday. http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/stat/viewPr...&numRecordsPerPage=30 |

Thanks, CJSL Crunching for a better future... The work unit numbers are actually c4cw_target07_002620588_0. This means that you got work unit in batch 262 out of 4,000. (1000 work units per batch). However, since we were loading in a bunch of workunits at once to get the project going again, they sometimes get loaded out of order. So, we are closer to 5% done than 50% and without actually looking up how many were technically returned or sent out, I would guess we're closer to 2-3% done. Thanks, -Uplinger |

Thanks uplinger, I was wondering about that numbering scheme myself.

Have now got 44 threads working on this, as I'd like to add another Sapphire badge to the collection before this run dries up, if possible!

Thanks, -Uplinger An expansion on what that final 8 means [the digit varies with each task from 0 through 9] non-matching to the second last, such as c4cw_ target07_ 002246514_ 0-- carries my interest. Is this a subset of e.g. 224651 i.e. a simulation cut up in multiple tasks and if so, a constant number or variable... 1 in 5 parts (ending in a 4), another in 10 parts (ending in 9). This would multiple the number of WU's by a substantial factor. Of course it could also be a number to indicate a parm selector for any simulation as chosen by a pre-processing work generator. In short, are we talking 4000 batches of 1000 times the quorum 2 and error factor [e.g. 1.25], making it 5 million results, or are we looking at something bigger [first 6 targets needed 91 million results to complete]. edit: To me it's the difference to having to enter a result number to compute the target progress for the Dashboard publication, or a simple automation... cumulative 260,000 validated of 5 million est. equal 5.2% done. Sekerob, the final digit in that work unit name is just random. The work unit name/number is used in a minimal capactiy to set a random value generator in one part of the code. It does not represent a work unit getting split up into various parts unfortunately. Right now from the researchers we were told 4 million work units were to be run. Beyond that I do not know. I would say going with the 5.2% is pretty accurate assumption. Thanks, -Uplinger |

Thanks everybody for your explanations... I think I now understand how the numbering convention works.

Work units for the new C4CW target (target07) have successfully completed beta testing and are now available. This target is currently expected to contain 4,000,000 work units. Please let us know if you encounter any issues. Seippel Hi Seippel, Thanks for the update. Maybe somebody else here noticed and already raised a flag on this, but shouldn't the project be pulled out of the "intermittent" category in this case? Cheers! Knowledge is limited. At this moment since it looks like it'll only be running a short period of time, ie less than a few months we are going to keep it at intermittent. We will let members know if we change the designation. Thanks, -Uplinger |
