Re: 10 days of new work remaining for GFAM

Not asking why not, just suggesting to add that "(ending soon(" or "(completing soon)" behind the "Active" on the projects page too.

Re: 10 days of new work remaining for GFAM

Bummer. Looks like my grand total is going to be stuck at ~325 days when this project ends. d oh
Too bad to see another project end before it's initial goal is reached..

I know exactly how you feel - as I'll be stuck between Ruby and my original goal of Emerald for this project. I just hope/wish (perhaps it's a pipe-dream) that, once funding becomes available again, that this project will be able to be continued... good luck

I also don't understand where it says that it stopped because of funding. AFAIK, GFAM finished all the experiments it had to run. What is currently an uncertainty is Phase 2 which won't launch until some funding is secured. Until then, the scientists will analyze the results from Phase 1.

My interpretation...

Re: 10 days of new work remaining for GFAM

Hello Falconet,
For another interpretation look at Dr. Perryman's posts at https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/...ead,35145_offset,0#422145 and at the end of http://gofightagainstmalaria.scripps.edu/inde...r-potential-malaria-drugs where it says:
GFAM is still an unfunded project. We need to get some grant funding in order to extend these lines of research. If you want to help increase the chances that we will be able to get some grant funding, then please contact your Senators and members of the House of Representatives (via e-mail, Twitter, FaceBook, and the telephone--using multiple forms of media is much more effective). Tell them that you are strongly opposed to the sequester-related cuts to the NIH budget. Funding for the NIH needs to be increased, not cut in a drastic and arbitrary manner. Let them know that this issue will affect how you vote--in both the primary elections and the general elections.

Admittedly, There is a Phase 2 that should be run over our Phase 1 results, but it could be possible to obtain additional Phase 1 results as well (extended running of Phase 1).

sad

Re: 10 days of new work remaining for GFAM

Think to remember that the originally intend was to run the same GFAM suite on the new AutoDock [the same as what FAAH was upgraded to] to see what was missed on VINA, what matched, what falls through, to find the best of both worlds. That was deep-freezed. Instead, a long study will be done, in what comes across as ''in-between in spare time'' to see what came out well from the VINA segment and then selectively run this in AutoDock, in a long away future when funding would allow that [remember, processed data must be securely stored, managed and made public, which costs time and money... processing data and made an Indiana Jones warehoused artifact is not in anyone's plan]. Whether the FAAH reprocessing was meant to be GFAM1-B or GFAM2, really don't know, but it was meant to be parallel or back to back. In that sense, GFAM was cut short. My 2 Euro cents interpretation.

My understanding is that some...

edit: no, strike that, I could be talking out of school. cool

Re: 10 days of new work remaining for GFAM

Wow, That was fast! I came back to this project after finishing my work on HCC at the beginning of May to participate in the final push over the finish line. There was 90 days on the clock back then. Now we are down to 7 in less than a month! Is that bump from all the crunchers coming out of the HCC project ready to throw all their CPUs at the next project that was near completion? What will happen when GFAM completes; HPF will complete 2 days later. That will leave just 4 projects: running FAAH, CEP2, DSFL, and SN2S. Those projects will get completed really quick when all the CPU-power is focused on them. Also HFCC is holding with 90 days on the clock, but I'll bet we will get those WUs cruched in about 3 weeks? dancing

Cheers coffee

Looks like 9 years + 100 days might all be all that I can get before the end.

Whew, I should just scrape Sapphire, more by chance than design.

With the rate of progress, it looks more and more like a mirage to hope for the same on DSFL.
