Re: Good morning everyone

And just scraped a Silver badge for MIP1, with the overnight-update. It seems there's hardly any work-units available, as my server is grabbing pretty much everything except MIP1.

Re: Good morning everyone

Good morning all.

I'm disappointed with MIP. Despite trying to split 50/50 with SCC I am getting 12.7 SCC WUs for every MIP WU. I have managed to amass only 18 completed WUs (with 102 in the pipeline). On that basis I will be lucky to get anywhere near a Sapphire badge before the project ends as it is already reporting over 1% complete.

Re: Good morning everyone

I'm getting almost exclusively MIP... but then I don't have a Mac, and I've set my work buffer to pretty much nothing, so I only get a unit at a time (not that that makes much difference if any).

Re: Good morning everyone

I've switched all my machines that I can to MIP and will keep doing it until the project ends.
My wife has Crohns and when I told her about MIP, she has been getting her friends to participate as well, also trying to get it on her work computer(s).

Funnily enough, she has had Crohns for exactly the same amount of time that I had my problems. Her Crohns is mostly under control via medication and diet so she only suffers now and then, but she is quite fatigued every day.

It's great when a project comes around that you really have a personal affinity with dmni. The microbiome stuff is pretty interesting too. I heard something the other day that suggested that Caesarian babies had poorer immune systems because they weren't being exposed to the necessary creepy crawlies during the birthing process (or something like that, can't quite remember). Back in the good old days, kids used to go outside and eat soil and stuff, and I'm sure it was mostly good for them smile

Steve it sounds like you have had rather a lot of (medical) bad luck in your family - I hope that you both can recover sufficiently to live reasonably comfortable lives. I grew up with a chronically ill mother and a father who developed arthritis and early onset diabetes in his 40s - neither parent made it past 60 years old and here I am pushing 69 - every year is a bonus. Keep up the positive thoughts - I really believe it helps.
Dave It's quite true that a mucky child is generally healthy (and happy). Polio was always the great worry but that has all but been eradicated worldwide now. On the subject of birthing bacteria, I understand that some (Snake oil?) companies are selling vaginal bacterial suppositories to boost the immune system of the new born. I wonder how that fits in with the Chinese paddy field worker who drops her baby in the field while at work and then carrys on. There must be some damn healthy Chinese about! biggrin cool

Re: Good morning everyone

I lost both my parents to cancer, Mum aged 60 and dad 65. I developed diabetes aged 50, but still plodding on, almost 70. Taught me never to take good health for granted...

Yes Tom - Just 2 days to go if I remember correctly. That'll be your three score years and ten then. All is a bonus from 1st September onwards!

Re: Good morning everyone

Good morning all. I've just got my gold for MIP, and 50 years of crunching for the team. I think I should retire while I'm ahead smile
