Re: Morning Update II

Good grief, I still manage to make it into the global top5000 every once in a while! That's such a surprise that I thought it time to drop by and say "Hi".

I'm still trying to get to 5yrs on CEP2 before it ends, but haven't even made it to 1yr on MCM1 yet. Seemed to nab quite a few beta WUs though; presumably the reason for the one day boost into the starlight when the validator finally got turned on.

One day something will break and I'll take the opportunity to upgrade my kit, but right now I'm content to crunch with what I've got. Probably not very energy efficient; but what the heck -- it heats the house!

Crunch on, peeps.

[Edit: Removed unintentional blasphemy. Well, I think it was: I'm a born again atheist myself, but I still wouldn't want to upset anybody.]

Is CEP2 ending shortly? I've just looked at the projects list and there doesn't seem to be much going on anymore :-(

Is anyone aware of any upcoming projects?

From cleanenergy posted Jan 21, 2014
As of now there is no end in sight for CEP2 - as long as we produce interesting data, we keep at it. It is likely that a CEP3 and a Buffalo spin-off on solar water splitting catalysts will come at some point in the not-too-distant future, but we don't want to get more specific at this point. It really depends on the manpower situation and the progress we are making on the research that is already ongoing.

As for new projects the official line is that a new project is in development and we might possibly, with a fair wind, new moon, and luck, see BETAs in April/May.

FAAH

Came across this post and response specicifically about FAHV
I'm noticing a large discrepancy in the estimated time/actual time on tasks including "Y3b" or "Y3a". They all are saying the same estimated time as other FAHV tasks, but I've been getting actual times that are SIGNIFICANTLY MORE (in some cases 15+ hours).

uplinger's response:
These workunits have a new option being passed that is making it harder to estimate. The build script learns over time the difficulties of ligands based on their size, but the new parameter causes this to be more difficult to properly size.

Re: FAAH

I'm so surprised there's no sort of IRC channel for WCG. It may be old but people would use it :P
