Re: Computing for Good being phased out

Let us know timehacker how it goes (and if you can get us back to the 50s for a visit)

Re: Computing for Good being phased out

I looked at the website for Research Support Coin. I am suspicious of this entity because the website appears to be hastily put together and has grammatical errors which is a hallmark of a shady operation. I only read the instruction page and came up with these examples. I saw no need to read any further. I have noted in red any missing words or other errors.

The BOINC (client) will then automatically start working on research tasks according to your settings.

To allow us to send you payments, i.e. RSCs you’ve earned for donating you computing time, you need to grant trust to our Ripple address: rLTSuhKSNaWvGHyRcnTSjms3iFew345SdG To do so, log in to your Ripple wallet, got to “Advanced” in the upper menu and clink on the “Add trust” green button.

...so we recommend (for you) to put some high number, for example 10,000,000). You will need to manually rewrite the currency to “RSC”. After that click on “Gran Trust ”.

We need to know your WCG username, WCG verification code and Ripple public address to be able to process your payments. Please use this registration form to submit these information.

So it seems that unlike stupid WCGcoin, they are paying every day as they claim (see https://ripple.com/graph/#rLTSuhKSNaWvGHyRcnTSjms3iFew345SdG). Of course the RSC market is still very limited though.
I would say right now Computing for Good is obviously better choice, but this Research Support Coin might be worth trying after CfG ends completely.

Unfortunately, my time machine can only go forward :))
