Re: Much Longer WUs

Hi.

Just wondering if the new Ovarian cancer tasks have started, because I have seen a fair jump in run times with the latest batch of tasks, over 5hrs, 30min for 89% on my xeon & i7 there normally been around 3hrs lately.

Re: Much Longer WUs

Looking at the project daily run time averages then there isn't a really a change in the average processing time (outside the normal fluctuation of this project as can be see on Sgt Joes charts).

Having said that, for the WU currently sat in my results page:
On one machine batches 19979 to 19984 took about 6-7 hours - up from the norm of 3(ish) hours.
On a slightly slower machine I can see batch 19986 taking 8.5 hours - up from the norm of 4(ish) hours.

As I'm sure it has been mentioned before, all batches can have varying run times. So unless the we are on the Ovarian cancer batches it just looks like we've hit some with a longer run time.

Re: Much Longer WUs

I wouldn't worry about it. The length can vary from WU to WU.

Re: Much Longer WUs

If the total units (WUs) is four on one machine and 2 on the other, it is either a setting (Preferences / Process Usage near the bottom, "on multi processor systems, use at most ___% of the processors")
-or-
Different CPUs can handle different number of tasks simultaneously; 1, 2, 4, 6, 8+

I'm seeing a consistent tripling of time from ~5 hrs (batches up to 19976) to ~16 hrs since on a slow machine.

Additionally, a single WU from 19985 at 31 hrs to far and on track to take 35 hours.

Re: Much Longer WUs

I can also confirm that!

my X3230 shows around 5h for MCM...while X3360 is about 4h work for MCM!

seems like we entered another part of the project...ovarian & lung cancer markers!

Re: Much Longer WUs

Sunilpatodia, if you really want to make an investment in the project, there are processors out there than can do as many as sixteen tasks at the same time (or more if you're very wealthy).
