Re: New Beta Test - Nov 27, 2014 [ Issues thread ]

Four units doing funny things here as well.

BETA_OET1_0000307_xEBGP-OM_rig_0375_0
BETA_OET1_0000307_xEBGP-OM_rig_0376_0
BETA_OET1_0000307_xEBGP-OM_rig_0374_0
BETA_OET1_0000307_xEBGP-OM_rig_0384_0

Linux 64bit
For reference this machine does MCM work in 2.5 to 3 hours and is running of a USB stick.

The first one is showing 40% at seven hours, last three are 80% and almost at 14 hours runtime. They SEEM to be progressing, having jumped up 10% from when I looked at them an hour ago.

Seeing the same behavior, makes it to 90% then drops back:

foxfire,
I was wondering whether this was one of those VINA projects that works a lot better on Linux than Win7. Do you think that your results show that they are about equal? Since they don't complete but drop back, it is hard to tell, but if they are both really at 90% complete, it seems that they are equal. If so, they have made big improvements since the last time.

Re: New Beta Test - Nov 27, 2014 [ Issues thread ]

My Mac laptop got 1 and is having some issues (BETA_OET1_0000307_xEBGP-OMrig_1383_0

It started with "remaining time" around 34 or 39 minutes. After an hour or so the remaining time gave up and changed to --- and elapsed and progress continued up.
After 2 hours 43 minutes it hit 100% but then changed to 10.000% and the number won't go up despite elapsed continuing. Remaining reshuffled to 14 minutes and slowly is climbing up as is elapsed but progress ain't budging.

I'll let it go overnight and report if anything has changed by the morning.
The elapsed time is now well into 10 hours and the progress is now exactly 70.000%. Remaining has reappeared as well and is at 2 hours 15 minutes and the seconds are going in the upwards direction (because the progress % isn't going up?).

I know this must be very frustrating for the techs involved but it is fascinating to see behind the curtain a bit witnessing the kind of issues that can come up.

Re: New Beta Test - Nov 27, 2014 [ Issues thread ]

I've returned a couple of them now, both around the 16 hour mark without crashing. A previous on I did has the completion time listed as 0.01 hours and 1.65h clock time. Very odd time keeping on these units.

Re: New Beta Test - Nov 27, 2014 [ Issues thread ]

Batch 307 has a search box size that is 4 times the size of normal. As well as running a larger number of exhaustiveness on flexible work units. All of these variables cause them to be massive. We identified these as workunit issues and are working with the researchers on them. At the moment we do not plan to run any of these at launch. Please continue to let them run as they will provide us with data about size of ligands run in these situations.

Thanks,
-Uplinger

WU: BETA_ OET1_ 0000041_ xEBGP_ 0274_ 1--

on the results status page, this one is listed as pending validation, but when I look at the details provided, the CPU time reads 0, (shown in image below) despite displaying a non-zero CPU time on the stderr file. (last few lines of said file are below)

[12:28:35] Vina exited normal 0.
[12:28:35] Finished task #66 cpu time used 268.375000
12:28:35 (4708): called boinc_finish

</stderr_txt>
]]>

Not sure if it might correct itself when the second quorum comes in or not.

You got it. 10 on the way (sometime) although at least one looks to take over 24 hours.

You might set these up to run as a sub-project and use a system similar to the one for Clean Energy.

Composer, yes, we do see that some of the work units with application version older than 707 it is fixed in version 707.

thanks,

Jim, as yet they haven't completed so no way to tell if results better on one then the other. There does not seem t/b any difference as to run times, as both Win and Linus are verrrry slow.
