The main thing is that you can't see how IMMORAL & UNETHICS this kind of your behavior is! & what it will bring with others who read your posts... So yes, it's a true shame when someone is not using it's brain in a positive way! Only selfishness resides in you...& that's so sad! Ur blinded by it! ![]() I've only fixed the boinc given feature with cache and additional work buffer settings to behave as intended. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Great dialog !!!
Ok, having trouble figuring out how much "time' is still left on this project, and Erik's "chew your food 15 times first before taking another bite" algorithm isn't helping ![]() So, before I hit the brick wall 15 days short of my next badge, do folks think we have at least another week (including throwbacks from selfish cloud'ers) of WU's to crunch? Or should I revert to v6 ASAP? Thx ! And Rob, thx for the charts !!! |

No telling, the batch info suggesting there's still that 3.5 days outstanding for exp. 164. Last set of 49 tasks were all of 889nnn, from a previous experiment. Right now we're already 1 day past the last seippel update of 7.5 days which he did on the 3rd. Need 2 full days more of continuous supply, then it will be 'just just over 10'. At any rate, go for it... at least you've tried
![]() ![]() and still running maximum cycles on all comps regardless of heatwave [now cleaned twice of the dustbunnies in past month] |

Odd, I thought the idea of Boinc having settings was that we could use those settings to get the best fit for the way we use our computers.
----------------------------------------Ethics and Morals ?? The term ethics derives from the Ancient Greek word ethikos, which is derived from the word ethos (habit, âcustomâ). It is "customary" among those of us with a greater interest in WCG to achieve the best possible output with our rigs. Are you saying it is morally wrong to want to achieve a target? Selfish to push this project to completion? What seems sad to me is your "Flat Earth" view and condescending attitude. Each to his own I say, especially as no one is harmed by any of this.... nor is the science at risk. and most certainly those who achieve their goals, maybe against the odds, will have that extra warm fuzzy feeling that helps to cement their commitment to WCG. Well done all who reach their Targets.... by whatever means. ![]() |

... no one is harmed by any of this.... Asking someone to join you, as if joining a "team",but proclaiming "your" credits as entirely self-earned, well, that's why there actually are such things on WCG as "Teams", and even distinct badges for recruiting additional volunteers. |

Let's put this in perspective.
From the WCG Research page for FAAH: Run Time (y:d:h:m:s) 341165:105:20:59:28 From Sek's chart: Prject launch date 19 Nov 2005 The horrible, evil, selfish, cheats, who manipulate Boinc settings, spin up VM's etc will at most delay units completion by 10 days which is a tiny fraction of the total time the project has been running, and an utterly insignificant fraction of the total runtime. Secondly these terrible individuals will be the most dedicated crunchers who have selflessly and free of charge given large contributions of both computing time and indirectly, money, through machines and electricity. To begrudge them the chance to get their badge seems a rather blinkered view in light of all they have given to WCG over the years. Thirdly they are not actually delaying the project completing. Why not? Well what about all the part-time crunchers who only have their computers on for an hour or so per week to pick up e-mails etc. or those who go off on holiday for a fortnight and leave their machine turned off? The project can't be "complete" until the last WU is home and validated, so stragglers and non-returns will inevitably delay the final completion date by 10 days whether a handful of people bunker up on WU's or not. Personally speaking, I'm still too far away from a 10 year badge at present for bunkering up to make a difference, but every day new work lasts I edge a little closer. Here's hoping for another 12-14 days or so of new work. |

Let's put this in perspective. ... I suggest yet another special purposemeans of keeping score: Gold-Pressed Latinum https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferengi Each unit of this most precious stuff would represent Ten Years of Total WCG validated work units. That means WCG would need to start showing 4 units of Gold-Pressed Latinum ahead of my two project badges. |

Have we finally reached the end or just a temporary pause?
