WUs not resuming after battery charge restored

Yep, that's right ...

When the battery charge goes above the suspend level,
the WUs do not resume until I check on them hours later.
Then they all-of-a-sudden resume,
but roll back to a previous checkpoint,
repeating some hours of work.

Re: WUs not resuming after battery charge restored

If you don't already have LAIM on [Leave application in memory, when suspended], do so, and the resume will be lossless. If LAIM is on and there's a drop back to last checkpoint, then something is causing the task to reset. Not resuming computing when battery is getting above a certain percent...
hmmm that must be on Android then as the PC clients don't have a % battery load control. There's no LAIM control either that I know off other than through the 'Default' device profile.

Where do you see this 'back to previous checkpoint'? Is this in the event log or an assumption that's what it is due the progress time loss?

"Memory Usage
Leave applications in memory while suspended? Yes"

I saw the numbers change in real time on the "Tasks" screen
very soon after I checked that screen and they all decided
to resume.

Re: WUs not resuming after battery charge restored

I've been having similar issues and have been taking screenshots to confirm my suspicions. This morning at 8:00 AM an OET Wu was at 5 hours 22 minutes with 92.4% completion. I unplugged the phone for a few minutes, plugged it back in. My next screenshot is from 8:24 and the same WU is at 5 hours 3 minutes elapsed time with 87.4% completion. The other active OET is doing the same thing.

I don't see the "Leave application in memory, when suspended". Please advise as I seem to have missed it.

I do know my phone's software is outdated at Android version 4.4.4. Could the issue be here?

I checked the log and it doesn't mention anything worth noting.

"I don't see the "Leave application in memory, when suspended""
It's in your device profile, in Device Manager somewhere.

Any Android 4.1+ should work if enough memory, etc., is available.

Re: WUs not resuming after battery charge restored

Ah~ I was looking at the menu options within the app itself and not at the setting within this website.

Thanks mate~

Re: WUs not resuming after battery charge restored

This string seems to be the same as was written here .

I knocked it from 4 cores active to 2 (which also means the battery doesn't heat up as much), turned on "Leave application in memory, when suspended". I took a screen capture at 6 PM before I unplugged and I left for home, then another capture when plugged it in at 11 PM last night and did not unplug until around 8:30 AM this morning.

At 6 PM yesterday before unplugging my 2 work units were:
100% 7 hrs 26 min
100% 6 hrs 25 min

At 11 pm last night as I plugged the phone in my 2 work units were:
100% 6 hrs 30 min
87.5% 5 hrs 28 min

At 6 am this morning my 2 work units were:
100% 6 hrs 31 min
87.7% 5 hrs 29 min

At 8:30 am this morning before unplugging my 2 work units were:
100% 6 hrs 29 min
87.4% 5 hrs 28 min
I did see the message "to resume computing please reconnect the cable..." and it then decided it was connected and resumed. I could say it might be a cable but the cable is new and I use a different cable at work and the issues is at both locations.

I just rebooted the phone and it is starting off at:
100% 6 hrs 30 min
87.4% 5 hrs 28 min

At 9:20 AM my 2 work units were:
100% 6 hrs 54 min
95.1% 5 hrs 53 min

@9:40
100% 7 hrs 11 min
100% 6 hrs 9 min

@10:15
100% 7 hrs 30 min
100% 6 hrs 28 min
and this brings the levels back to when I left work last night.

I'd love thoughts/feedback.

Edit:
First WU finished and uploaded at 7 hrs 42 min
Second WU was accidentally aborted at 6 hrs 42 min. Finger must have pushed the abort button when I unlocked the phone.

Re: WUs not resuming after battery charge restored

I've been playing with the app on my phone for the last week and found I have to bring the number of cores down to only 1 out of 4 and pause the app before I disconnect the power. When reconnecting power I then resume the app. I am occasionally losing a few minutes but that is a huge improvement over the 30 min ~ 1 hour lost per core before I started this method. Not the cleanest but it works ;)

Re: WUs not resuming after battery charge restored

Seoulpowergrid, I suspect that it may be Android killing them to recover memory but not sure. Are you familar with logcat and do you see anything related to the BOINC client when this occurs?

Thanks,
armstrdj
