Oddly enough, the easiest way to get valids on a mobile device is to plug it in and leave it alone :)
It is clear that suspending tasks, while not using LAIM, may take them back to a prior state. So will powering the device down. So why isn't LAIM mandatory? Operating Systems are designed to swap suspended processes to disk. Even when hibernating. As far as charging the battery, my ideal would be to let the charger charge the battery, wait 10 minutes, and then start crunching. |

@armstrdj - Turns out my phone is not rooted. If I get the time I'll research and try to root it and use the app you suggested.
----------------------------------------@SekeRob - Thanks for mentioning the root issue as you saved me time trying to figure out why it wasn't working. I actually close all other programs with rare exception before I pause the Boinc app and unplug my phone with the hope that memory should be nice and open. The phone is a newer model (released Q3~4 last year I believe) so the memory should be enough and I'm only running one core so it should have more run time before the battery needs to cool down which cuts down on my losses. When I was running all 4 cores the battery would heat up faster and the WU would struggle to get to the next checkout before I would unplug my phone. Never an issue with FA@H but big issue for OET as I was running up against the deadlines. @ enels - I know, but I need to use my phone for calls on occasion too, lol. It's really sad to get a call, unplug so I can answer it, find out it is a spam call, and then see Boinc reverted back an hour. LAIM has been activated for weeks but it's not making a difference. I agree that making LAIM as the default setting makes a lot of sense except for older devices. And the phone is basically plugged in ~14 hours a day (desk job then next to my bed as alarm) so the battery is always at a high level and always has a constant stream of power. ![]() |
