Re: download failure [Sorted for now]

I fixed it via the abort transfer method but it came back after a day. Any long term solutions identified?

Re: download failure [Sorted for now]

As I predicted earlier in this thread. cool Whatever this is [tech silence does not solve it], the working solution was upgrading the client. 7.2.47 or 7.6.9.

If like what Eric wrote in second instance, it seemed specific the his droid, it is no option [he's seemingly stuck with Android something < 4.5 or < 4.1, NativeBOINC does not run on >=5.0 die the PIE requirement], then it is SOOL, too bad I suppose.

Re: download failure [Sorted for now]

Installing the latest version will make the stuck transfers upload.

Re: download failure [Sorted for now]

I bought a new ASUS X555D AMD Quad Core to use it to run WCG program. I downloaded and installed BOINC 7.6.9 version. But BOINC is not running.
I always get next message: "BOINC closed unexpectedly twice in last 3 minits" and
on BOINC Manager appears message: "It couldn't connect at client's core."
I just restarted it but I got the same result.

Can somebody help me to resolve this my trouble asap?

Thank you anticipate.

Re: download failure [Sorted for now]

@petehardy, without a successful connect of BOINC Manager to BOINC client (boinc.exe), doubt you can access the Event log in the manager.

pettud writes "I always get next message: "BOINC closed unexpectedly twice in last 3 minits" and
on BOINC Manager appears message: "It couldn't connect at client's core."

Something is killing the core client, where I would first suspect any security software blocking the startup or the firewall blocking the communication over localhost. Exceptions need setting in that case.

Event log transactions go the the stdoutdae.txt file, where the 'dae' part means daemon [core client]. That's the file to copy the activity from in a reply.

Re: download failure [Sorted for now]

This issue with the 2 .png files getting stuck is still a problem, and it would be nice if we got some kind of definitive diagnosis and fix. Please don't just tell me this is a BOINC version issue, because that is bunk, I have it happening on different computers running different versions of BOINC.

I periodically have these files trying to download and fail-fail-fail over and over until I notice that I have no new work crunching. The file downloads have to be aborted before new work will arrive.

And there seems to be no reason for it. Since I abort them every time, it is clear I don't need them to crunch WUs. Can someone please make it stop?

Thank you!

Re: download failure [Sorted for now]

The fix was that the cloud was cleaned up to only have 'https' versions. Temporarily http was also enabled for that still having the download problem from an old download attempt [to get the unattended devices going]. For discussion see post by knreed [which contains no BOINC version 'bunk']
