Re: Limited workunits for Help Stop TB

So are we, who have to micro-manage our resources to achieve minimum recognizable goals with HST1, to be impressed because Eric Kaiser managed to trap 7 WU to add to his Diamond 10 years? Congratulations!!
This project is a disaster in terms of WCG participation constructs.

This post is a disaster in terms of WCG forum code of conduct.

If you notice the timestamp that Eric Kaiser provided, then you'll realize he was probably letting everyone know that WUs are sometime available outside of the 3/33 window. He was not bragging about his ability to get 7 at one time.

On another note, I've gotten 3 the past two days, all 7.26 on a Win7 machine that have hit computation error immediately.

Right. Thank you for your post. That was indeed the intention of my post.

Re: Limited workunits for Help Stop TB

I have to admit I'm starting to wonder how to get any work for HST1 anymore. The 3/33 stuff doesn't work most of the time when I try it. For the last couple times I didn't get HST1 WUs, it was outside of the 3/33 window. But I've not been able to snag a sing HST1 WU for probably 2 weeks now. It makes me wonder when I'll ever see one again.... sad

Re: Limited workunits for Help Stop TB

In looking at the number of work units completed each day, I see the number seems to be gradually decreasing . The last three days have been less than 3000. So if the feeder is releasing some units uniformly every hour, that would mean there are only less than 125 units available per hour. That number is tiny, and is gone in a heartbeat given that many crunchers are seeking this project.
Cheers

I've given up with this one. Not had a single work unit in over 5 weeks now. Definitely something not right with this one.

You're certainly right with this one Sgt. Joe - as can be seen from the Results History for this project. There's certainly been a slowing down of results returned in recent days. No wonder that HST1 WU's are getting harder and harder to get hold of.

Originally, when this project launched, I thought "perhaps this could be my first 5 year target", but now, as soon as I've managed to crawl to Sapphire, I'll be stopping. The 5 year badge goal will be going to an easier project to manage.

Re: Limited workunits for Help Stop TB

Since batches are 50*2 WU's, and yesterday 2654 were validated, the equivalent of 26 batches were completed yesterday. When the word of 'Doubling, on request of the scientists' were printed, we did about 10K daily, i.e. the anticipation was ~20K tasks, but guess there are still technical issues playing, and by reports of the various about invalid and crashing (though I've not seen it for the 668 that were snagged on my side... seen tasks being server aborted for No Reply copies because there very late returns coming in nerd )

Re: Limited workunits for Help Stop TB

I added WCG to a new computer with all projects enabled and picked up a couple. 3 I think. 6.88 hours according to WU prop.

Re: Limited workunits for Help Stop TB

Has there been a recent increase in WUs released?
I never have more than 4 in progress at a time, on a max of two computers. I now have 13 WUs on 4 computers! Happy times!
