Re: Limited workunits for Help Stop TB

Techs & admins
When can we expect the dry out season to begin? ;)

KLiK,

I'm not 100% sure about what's being asked, but the current status quo (a small number of work units a day generated based on results of completed batches) will remain in place for at least the immediate future.

Re: Limited workunits for Help Stop TB

From the latest researcher update:

Future plans include letting our results “run dry” in a few months’ time. This will help us organize the vast number of simulations that we are currently running. More specifically, by running the results “dry” we will be able to investigate the progress of the simulations, fix any issues, create efficient backups, and then restart the simulations “clean”. Restarting “clean” will not only mean that we will have corrected any problems that might be occurring, but it will also mean that all simulations will restart again simultaneously which will guarantee a more efficient monitoring of their progress. Additionally, new simulations will be added to the workflow based on the information we have already gathered.

Re: Limited workunits for Help Stop TB

The likelihood is in my estimation same as finding the last decimal for Pi **, it being a irrational, having an infinite continued fraction. biggrin

(Short for, not happening after just accumulating 3500 years and a mere 2.8 million results... same app just running against a refined data set)

Edit: ** Seems the greatest effort ended in dec.2016 which got stuck at 12.1 TRILLION decimals http://www.numberworld.org/misc_runs/pi-12t/ (Warning... there's mention of Moore's Law again Lol di Lol di Lol)

Re: Limited workunits for Help Stop TB

I'm hoping they don't 'do dry' until early 2018. I'm getting pretty close to FINALLY getting my Ruby badge and I would hate to be a few days short whey they all the sudden shut off the workstream. Still hoping to get my next badge in the next 30 days given I need about 15 days more of work to complete to get it done ....

Re: Limited workunits for Help Stop TB

The distribution schedule for HST1 has not changed... set the project as exclusive after filling the buffer with other work and then it took about 36 hours before hitting the known sweet-point (read this thread which/how, or you don't deserve to receive them shock ), and got 2, and the longest running at them \o/

At <2000 a day, not bad at all to still sneak a few.

Re: Limited workunits for Help Stop TB

I'm still getting a few each night the last couple nights. Generally I get them at night my time by setting my settings to be exclusive on HST1 workload, then set the minimum to 3 and max to 5 days on my web settings, I find between 11 pm and 2 am each night, if I'm to get any HST1 WUs, it at that time that I get them. Some nights I get nada, last night I got one, the night before I got six of them. I'm about 10 days away from Ruby, so I'll continue to do what I'm doing until I get that next badge, then reassess if I'll continue with the HST1 workload. There are plenty of other projects who need crunching too, so I can point my laptop to other worthy needs when the time comes .... biggrin
