Re: Limited workunits for Help Stop TB

I got 5 a few hours ago.

I find the best way is to get enough of another project, say OET, which has relatively short units, then change the device profiles to only fetch HST until the other project has nearly run out. Then I change the device profile to OET & HST, do an update, allow only 1 fetch (about 120 OET units) before switching the device profile back to only HST. That lasts about 24 hours before my next intervention. An update is done roughly every 5 minutes when each OET unit finishes so should coincide with when batches are released.

(sigh). I'm not very confident that I'll get to my 5 year badge on this project. Currently @2yrs, 290d, and I've been crunching on this project since the beginning.

I feel the same way. Unless the flow increases by 100-fold, it is just luck if you get a task. Even using the scheduled boinccmd doesn't yield 100% results.

Re: Limited workunits for Help Stop TB

When this project first started reached 2 years just before the slowdown in WUs - so decided to crunch other WCG projects. When the distribution of WUs picked up again recently, determined to go for 5 years. Currently making steady progress and at 3.8 years. If the WUs continue to be released at a similar rate to that at the moment - hope to make 5 years about mid-June...

My progress monitored at http://www.sraellis.tk/frame-99-wcg_progress.html

Re: Limited workunits for Help Stop TB

Currently, I'm at around 120 days shy of my goal of Sapphire for this project - which equates (at the current progress), of around 4 weeks of solid crunching.

As I've mentioned on another thread, once I'm less than 65 days away, I'll divert my slowest cruncher onto SCC, drain it of HST WU's and allow my fastest computer to slowly (just) cross the finishing line without processing any more WU's than necessary to reach my target.

One of my hosts got lucky and has 15, another has 4. This is using the :03 :33 technique. Hoping others got bunches too.

Re: Limited workunits for Help Stop TB

I have seen a decrease in the HSTB my crunchers have been able to get for a few days until nothing yesterday and I just noticed that the return flow of WUs received by WCG has dropped by 50%. Can one of the WCG techs take a quick break from cutover preparations and take a look. It could be due to crunchers increasing their queue sizes.

Cheers coffee

Re: Limited workunits for Help Stop TB

Not only has there been a slow, downward spiral in the WU's for this project (they do seem to have gotten slightly longer though), the time when they're being released seems to have shifted back ~10 hrs.

this seems to have reverted back to the more usual time of 10:03-12:33 UTC, following a wave of WU's that hit both my machines this morning.
