Re: Limited workunits for Help Stop TB

Nothing will keep me on this project a moment longer than needed, so I will be keeping track of what's in PV and once my badge is in the bag I'll abort the rest for other badge hunters to get in
Thank you Sandvika for doing the right thing and allowing others to strive for their goals. This is something I'll be endeavouring to do, as soon as I reach my Sapphire goal.

Yes, Jean-David, the T300, T325, T350 & T400 are really the "jewels" to get - as they're the long-un's (saying that though, I certainly don't mind getting the odd one or two T000/T001's when they're around - as it all adds up).

I'm sorry to learn that the glut I experienced does not appear to have been universal. I've discovered that the WUs I've got are not only large in number but also are long in duration - my average run time for T300/325/350/400 was 25 hours but these are running over 30 hours which means I overestimated the number of WUs I'd need to run. I did another calculation and discovered that I was going to overshoot my target by over 7 hours per core so I've suspended all the WUs that have run for less than an hour and will resume them again only if I need them. Consequently, I'm going to start aborting unstarted HST jobs now, since it's evident that I've already started more than I need. good luck

Re: Limited workunits for Help Stop TB

I have 2 of my computers set to crunch HSTB and they are getting what appears to be a steady supply. They have completed their SCC and OET work in their queue and now are exclusively HSTB. All the work has been obtained at the "special" times using the boinccmd script. Lets see if this lasts.

Cheers coffee

I hope for your sake it lasts and you can get your badge and quit too. good luck I won't consider this project again unless and until WUs can be obtained readily by normal means.... angel

It was fittingly ironic that I should end this project with a glut whilst others were still getting nothing, rather like ketchup from a bottle coming out all at once after shaking it and banging it for ages and getting just the odd spattering. crying It sums it up rather well - hit and miss. I hope the research is not as hit and miss as the work availability.

I've got the tail ends of 3 long running WUs still to complete and now believe I'm going to end up at 5 years and 4 days of crunching, basically these 3 WUs too many were at too an advanced state of progress before I realised the job times had got longer - without them included I'd be less than a day over, maybe I could have shaved off one T000 WU. There are currently 30 WUs in PV and thus my badge will be some way off (I expect some wingmen will fail to reply) and is not yet guaranteed. I'm sitting on WUs that were started but suspended at under 1 hour crunched until I'm confident I'm there, but have aborted over 100 that were not started at all. rose

Back to SCC now biggrin

Hopefully, like me, your wingmen have shoved all their HSTB WU's to the front of their queue - thus, reducing the potential time your badge will be stuck in PV Jail.

Re: Limited workunits for Help Stop TB

After getting only one WU in about 5 months, I have now received 14 WU's in the last few hours. cool
OK, most are T000 but I'm not complaining.

Looks like "normal" service is being resumed.
